Transfer switch questions....

Finished up the 50 amp service today for our RV resting area at home.

No power in the coach, traced to the transfer switch under the foot of bed.    I can press down manually, causing generator switch to disingage and feed coach from 50 amp service.  I'm assuming the shore power switch is bad, needing replacement.    Local recomendations for a supplier for this out of production part?

Double checked the wiring of power supply to determine installed correctly, seems odd coincidence to have failure along with new power supply.  Had noticed humming at the foot of the bed occaisionally over last month intermitenttly.

David,

Indeed, recheck the outlet:

Either outer straight to center straight: 120 VAC

Center straight to center round: 0 VAC

Outer straight to outer straight: 240 AC

Looking around this great site a couple more searches show that Lyght Power LPT50BRD transfer switch
should do the job.

Brett i will triple check polarity, shockodarity tomorrow.  12 years is a while for these gadgets.  quite the coincidence tho.  I'm just not good at keeping the smoke in.

I have two transfer switches that I am selling.
The original Magnetek ATS100 for $50 and a newer Lyght LPT50CA for $100.
I do not know how old the Lyght transfer switch is but it was working when I replaced it with manual switches two years ago.

Outlet triple checked between beers and naps as listed by Brett....I hate such failures coinciding with new work...."outlet installed".

Lyght power unit was back ordered a couple of weeks from my online source, so I cancelled that order and picked up a Parllynxx from local Tom Johnson camping store in Marion NC.          Had to trim a little to make fit, but RV powers up and is working fine now.
Impressed as to the advancement of technology from 2000 to 2012 when comparing side by side, the old "well pump pressure switch" unit to the new switch.
Not that difficult to change out.

How many carry a spare transfer switch around?      Guesses as to average life expectancy?
