windshield washer tank replacement

As I recently went to spritz the windshield, no juice coming out the nozzles. They were working a few days before. At the next stop I opened the front and the tank had just about disintergrated and all the fluid had obviously leaked out. Now I could have ordered a replacement for about twenty bucks but I love an excuse to go the local junk yard and wander around. The original tank holds about 1 litre. After a couple hours of marveling at all of the neat stuff there I found a suitable replacement that had been in a car with the hood closed. This one holds about a gallon. Had to build a small wood shelf to capture the bottom mounting foot, splice in the new connector to the pump motor, and hook up the pressure line. I think it came out of a 2005 Ford, not sure what model. This may be a good excuse to go back and wander around for a few more hours to find the car that I took it out of.

My tank has also disintegrated. Replacement is on my "to do" list. Guess a trip to the local salvage yard (in my day we called it a junk yard)  is in order.
