something removed by PO...what was it?

Hello, my name is Wayne and I am a new owner of a 2002 u320 40ft.  I am in the process of learning all the pieces and features on this vehicle.  While I was working on the Zip Dee Autoawn, I noticed a cut wire and what looks like a spot where some device used to be mounted on the storage wall inboard of the zip dee controller.  I can see where two bolts (positioned diagonally) were.  Question is...what was there and was it important?

thanks much

Welcome to the forum, and hope you enjoy your new coach.

A missing device might have been the touch module for the entry handle and the over door light.  On my much older coach, I had cut wires and missing somethings, with the shadow of a small box.  On my wiring diagram I found listed the touch module.  Replaced at Foretravel in 20 minutes including removal and replacement of the wire to the handle.

If your wiring diagram shows the module and your handle light, and over door light does not come on when you touch it, you might have found the problem.

I might be all wrong, but be sure some one with better knowledge will be along soon to help you.

Could it have been a wind speed sensor? Some automatic awnings have used those and some users have been annoyed when small shifts in the wind causes their awning to cycle back in.

Could it be the antenna wire for the remote?  Mine hangs down right above the door.

If your auto awning was a Girard, I'd suspect someone had removed the current limiting device. We did that on ours following instructions from Girard tech support. Maybe Zip Dee has something similar?
