Upholstery renewal

Is the FOT remodel area overwhelmed? Have left messages Monday, Wednesday, and today for David Flanigan but no response. On Wednesday, Joshua answered David's phone, told me David was at lunch, asked that I call back which I did. Again, just got voicemail. Is there a magic method or just use patience?

Have gotten local estimates which vary dramatically in price and in amount of material required. Got a price to redo the sofa from Countryside Interiors in Junction City, OR. Their estimate was higher than the cost of a new sofa from Villa!

I assume you tried: RV INTERIOR REMODELING AND RV FURNITURE  in Woodland, WA in your neighborhood?

Thanks for the info about the FOT backlog. Seems a company interested in staying booked beyond the end of the year would arrange for someone to return calls. If we decide to have the work done at FOT, we would be scheduling in Jan or Feb. Appreciate the e-mail address - will try to use this for contact.

We have visited the shop in Woodland to look at AutoMotion shades and to ask about upholstery. They would be happy to do the shades but only sell new furniture. Anything to be upholstered is farmed out.

Just got a call from David at FOT. Coincidence or is someone at FOT keeping up with the forum?
In any event, David was very informative. Got an idea of the process and pricing. Will be able to discuss further with David next week.
David did say they are booking January work now, and he had just booked a job in February.

Take the couch or whatever you want re-upholstered out yourself and find a recommended local upholster shop.  I am sure there are a lot of them everywhere.  No need to use an RV shop.  We have seen good work done in Nac and from other shops around the country.

If you need to use Nacogdoches, we also recommend Mitch Holland, owner of Infinity Commercial Upholstery & Furniture Repair in Nac, 936-560-2188, icuph@att.net.  Mitch and his crew are familiar with Foretravels and I have seen his good work.  Mitch is a friendly and easy to work with.  Mitch may own a Foretravel.

there is a great upholstery shop here in our town. they are reasonable in prices, do a lot of rv, boat, and classic car jobs. The Upholstery Workshop

I fixed the URL to point to the one in Weatherford.  Leaving off the "the" at the beginning takes one to an upholstery school in the UK.

David's group is very good. I have a week scheduled with them in two weeks myself.

I met Mitch Holland when in Nac last June.  I went to his shop with Mike Harbordt and was impressed with the quality of his work.  I believe he may still own a GV which he had brought to the upholstery shop for some work.

This same trip he had an Allegro (or similar quality coach, I think) that was at Xtreme which he had totally re-upholstered inside including curtains and dash.  It was very well and tastefully done.  So, yes, there are alternatives to FOT for upholstery work, maybe even locally near you.

When we bought our 03 last Oct. we had it at extreme and Mitch came over and took out the couch and reuphostered it. We think that it came out very good and felt like his price was within reason and was easy to work with. We would recommend him

For over 40 years, I have taken, both home and automotive upholstery across the border to Mexico with excellent results. Several sofas and chairs came out better than the Carolina factory. The shop did tell me that Mexico does not have any perforated leather or vinyl at the shops so it's best to take the material with you. The price was much lower that a shop here and a tiny fraction of what a big motorhome dealership would charge.

I generally drive small neighborhoods and ask at stores if there is someone around that does good upholstery work.  I then check out their work and come up with a price everyone is happy with.

I always pay the owner a bit to start the job with the cash out of sight of the other employees per his request.

Both our front seats now need new covering so will post photos when the job is done.

We expect to be in Nacogdoches this Winter for bulkhead repair and a few other isssues. Working with a shop there would be about as convenient as having the work done near home.The local shops that are credible charge more than FOT.
Will check with Mitch, see how Molly feels about that option. I get a negative reaction when I talk about Mexico. We've never traveled there although I would like to. Molly has visions of severed heads rolling in the streets.

I am with Molly on the Mexico travel, I have not lost anything there and have zero reason to go look for it. I am still enjoying and happy in the USA.
