Rear TV

The 17 year old Panasonic TV in the BR is failing, ( don't know why ) and I really don't want to get into the remodel replace job while we are still traveling.
Does anyone have an old 13" that they have removed to put in a flat screen ?  If so I can use it.
We will be at the FT rallies at Canton and at Mineola, be glad to pay a small price for a working one.

I just took mine to Goodwill about 3 weeks ago! Had it in my garage for 6 months. Sorry.

I have a Sony 9" Trinitron 120VAC analog TV with very low hours on it. It's white. If you want it, I'll pack it for Canton. It is bound for the recycle center.

Gary I took the panasonic with radio in it out from the bedroom of my o2 about a month ago. It was working great. Before i tell you- you can have it I need to get it back.  I, took it to Durant, Okla to my father-in-laws who was going to sell it in a garage sale.  Little did I know he already had three other TVs in the sale so this one is still there. He lives in Calera right in front of the Chowtaw casino and KOA  across the line from Texas on 75/69 just before Durant. I will not have a way to  get it back here but if you want and will pay the shipping I can have it put on a bus or UPS to you.
Just let me know>  I might could get it to Greenville, Tx as his brother is suppose to visit next week and he could get it to Greenville, Tx where he lives.  Anyway we can work it out if you want it.  I will be at Canton and the Grandvention.  DAN

Dan, I have a separate radio so a combo  unit might not fit.  I think I will go with JD's offer and this will get me by til I can get back home to do it right.  Thanks for the offer.

We took a couple of boxes of stuff down to the local resale shop today in Longview and they had one for $20 if you are intrested  PM me for more info.

You might also inquire at MOT and FOT (at FOT you specifically want David Flanagan) to see if they have any that were removed from coaches for TV remodels.  Both outfits have storage areas where they keep some old take-off items.  Hopefully they wouldn't want more than a token few dollars for one.

That is, of course, if you plan to hit Nac after the GV.

Gary,
The resale shop is New Gate Bargain Center and is located at 426 East Cotton here in Longview. The lady that is the assistant manager and runs the place is Patricia and very helpful. The phone #903-236-9844 (but it may not do you any good) as I think that this is the pick up number. The  BIG problem is no place to park your RV there but you are more than welcome to pull up in our back yard and hook up your electricity and spend a few hours or the night. I will try to swing by down there Monday or Tuesday while we are out running errands to make sure it works and for sure that it is 13". If you are intrested P/M me and we can make arrangements.

Gary, for what it is worth, when we got our '89 GV the previous owner had removed the bedroom 13" analog, tube type TV and replaced it with a 15" Dynex LCD flat screen from Best Buy. It was almost a perfect fit!! The outer edge of the set sits just outside the trim so no openings on the side but a 1/2" on the top to let any heat out. We do have to use the remote because the controls on the set are not attainable.
Of course I don't know your configuration but our GV had the TV mounted above a tape player on the passenger side in the bedroom, with an access door near the pass'r side.
I have since redone the mount to allow a DirecTV receiver box to slide in below the TV but above the tape player. The TV had a plate on the back that I mounted to a 2x4 upside down, in that the TV is held in place by two screws coming down thru the shelf above the TV.

I agree with nitehawk.  Look into a modern LCD TV that fits close enough.  If you need to run it from 12 volts, install a small inverter behind it.  A current model TV will have the advantage of receiving over the air digital television from your rooftop antenna.

Gary, I need to clarify the mount description.

It is really a wall mount for the small TVs. The mount is screwed to the 2x4, four screw/shoulder bolts are permanently mounted in the four tapped holes on the back of the TV. The TV (with the bolts) fits into the four keyholes on the plate, drops down a bit and then the locking bar is slid thru the plate to lock the TV in place.
I initially covered the opening with some expanded aluminum metal for ventilation) painted black. Now that metal is gone now that I reworked the opening to accept the DirecTV receiver box. Looks clean and as if it came that way from FOT

Gary,
I will second the recommendation to consider a modern TV.  You can get a LED TV in size 19 inch from walmart for $99.  There are several to choose from.  The benefit of that would be in addition to the antennae requirements you would also be able to cut your electricity useage considerably.  Just my 2cents.
