Cummins Quickserve now sells parts online...

I recently logged in to my Cummins Quickserve to get some parts info and noticed that they were adding the ability to buy parts directly online. For most parts, I would rather go to a parts counter with my engine info and be able to ask some questions. So for me, the coolest thing about this feature is the ability to add stuff to my shopping cart (which is saved between logins), and to see the pricing! Nice to avoid the sticker shock at the parts counter... You do have to register and it took about a week to get an approval notice. Before that came, I was able to add parts to the shopping cart and it was saved, but it wouldn't show me the prices.
All in all, a nice improvement... :D

Don, how do you do that? I logged on, updated my engine serial number, clicked on the parts catalog, choose "oil pan" and got all the information including a nice drawing. But I do not see any way to add it to a cart. A shopping cart does not appear.
Thanks, Dick

Dick,
A week or so ago when I logged into the Cummins Quickserve website, I noticed a box at the bottom of the page that said that they were now selling parts online. There is a link in that frame that says click here to learn more... I'm not sure exactly what I did, but somewhere I found a link to register. Even before I registered however, when I went to a particular part in my case fuel transfer pump, there is a list of parts and some of them have checkboxes next to them which allows you to click the checkbox and there was a link at the top of that column to add to cart. There is also a shopping cart icon in the upper right-hand corner of the webpage. When you click on that, like a lot of e-commerce sites, you are then shown your cart which is a list of the things that you added to the cart. I have attached a picture to this post which shows the box announcing the new online parts sales program. If you are not seeing any shopping cart links or that banner on the webpage when you login, I wonder if it's just a Cummins Cal Pacific thing and not available in other parts of the country. If that's the case, I apologize for posting about this thinking that everybody would have access to it. But at least those out here in the West will probably have that option...
Here is a link to the Cummins Quickserve that I log into... not sure if it is location dependent or not.

Don, I'm getting closer. I think you may be right about this being a service of Cummins Cal Pacific. Cummins NW does not offer it. I was able to register at Cal Pacific in spite of my Oregon address being a little north of their territory. Now when I look at a part, I can add it to my Cart. Just did that this morning. So far it is not giving me the part cost, even after "updating" my cart.
Aside from the Parts list, I am also interested in the Service Bulletins available under the Service Tab.
We have been busy ALL day the last four watching the women's professional billiard tournament in Lincoln City, OR at the Chinook Winds casino. Lots of fun and the gal I bet on went all the way to win, so I don't have to do dishes for a whole week! :D
I guess I'll just wait to see if the price is added after a few days.

Dick,
You should get an email in a week or so that says you can now buy your parts online and therefore see the prices. If not, even the shopping cart is a good place to store a list of parts you are interested in to ask the parts guy about on the phone. But it is nice to make list and know what the damage is ahead of time... Get the mourning out of the way!
