picture of the setup on propane tank for extended stay propane supplyI

I have a 1998 U270 and was wanting to set it up with a 125 gal propane tank for the winter. Would like a picture of the the set up.
Or a recommendation of the part needed, thank you again John

The considerations I would be thinkng about would be to have the local LP Gas supplier provide the tank, regulator and hookup for your coach, then the problem would be running the line into the coach, am thinking you would need to either cut a hole of keep a lower door open to have access to the LP line.  Being near Chi Town, winter temps are a concern also.
SO I have no clue how to connect the LP line to hour coach in a practical way.

Sounds simple right up to where you need to connect up.

Good luck

You can purchase the Marshall Brass Extend-A-Stay tee which will not only allow you to connect an external LP gas supply but will also let you connect a BBQ grill or other LP Gas appliance to your coach tank.  A picture of the tee is here Propane Tee - Extend a Stay Tees on Sale - PPL Motor Homes and you can purchase just the tee or a kit with both hoses.  I have used this device on two motorhomes to attach a grill and liked the ability to attach an external tank if required.

This is so funny for me as I have one of the connections on my tank for an external connection and I never knew it!!!
When I bought the coach I wanted to run a BBQ from it just like I did on the old GV, so, I teed into the regulator line fastened on the side wall and put a one way valve and ball shut off and have been hooking up to that all the time. I could have just connected to this I guess :-[

John - I luckily asked the right question.  When we purchased the coach at FOT the good folks there explained that connection when I asked how to hook up a BBQ easily.  They showed me and I laughed saying that was one of the few things I understood.  The rest of the coach systems were very foreign to me at the time!

Simple hookup indeed, however, I guess you need to run the line up thru the vent hole in floor so one can keep the side door closed ? OR cut a new larger vent access hole in floor ?
Can not see keeping the door open in Ill winter.  Just sounds wrong, mice, dogs, snoopy relatives ?

Dave, that is what I did when I installed the valve, I cut a hole in the floor (drilled) and when not in use I place a big cork in it to keep out critters ( and road crap too) works great.

I am a bit surprised that you needed to drill a hole in the bottom of the bay. Both of my 93, Grand Villas have had an open vent about 2" BY 12 " in the floor in front of the propane tank. I just run the hose to the grill down through that bottom vent. I have never had an issue with critters even though it is open all of the time.

no 2x12" vent hole in my base, just a 2"dia hole with fine mesh covering the vent so I left that alone and put the other one in. This one I plug while not in use for BBQ.

John,

I am sure you have thought of this, but for others, if you drill through the floor, make sure to calk or better use a pipe insert and  calk it in so that water can NOT get into the foam core and bulkhead/beam area.

Brett, you are correct, I did think of it and put some leveling caulk on my finger and spread it around to totally cover foam. I also put a cover over the leading edge of hole (underneath) so no water can splash up as I travel. This is flexible enough that my BBQ hose can get past it when I am hooking up. That is my problem when I do something I spend more time thinking about what the problems would be and overcoming them, than actually doing the job.
