Almost new owners! (was Re: What led you to buy your first Foretravel)

WOW -

Can't believe we are doing it.  Just put a down payment on a beautiful - pristine 2002 U320 with 2 slides and all of the other good stuff you guys know about.

My wife, Carol and I started our Journey on Sept. 15th, of this year, from a small town located on the Puget Sound in the state of Washington, called Gig Harbor.  We started our journey with our 28' Komfort TT pulled by our 2500HD Duramax with our motorcycle in the back of the pickup.  Went through Canada, Boston, Bar Harbor, Gettysburg, DC, Pigeon Forge, The Outer Banks and into Destin, FL. where we were parked on the beach next to a 2000 U290.  My wife an I had been talking about getting a pusher but didn't know which way to go or where to start.  Met the guy and asked him about his coach.  Well he told me all about it.  Right then I thought - this is the one for me.  My wife and I started on a Motorhome search program that included just about every coach dealer between Destin and Houston including Natchadoches (sp).  We looked at Tiffins, Country Coaches, Newmars, Beavers, etc. as well as countless hours on the internet investigating all of the above coaches and many, many others.  I consistently came back to measuring all of the others to that first Foretravel I saw that was owned by a Banker in Texas with a Texas A&M logo on the nose of his coach.  I looked at every Foretravel for sale in the US and determined that most if not all of the years and models that we were interested were we out of our price range.  Soooooo-we were figuring that we would probably find a nice Newmar or Tiffin and that would be fine.  Really - However, we were driving through Las Cruces today and, for the heck of it we pulled into an RV store and started talking to the Salesman.  He had one or two coaches on his lot - none had any interest for us.  As we were getting ready to leave he said he knew a woman in the area that has a Newell Foretravel.  My ears perked up.  As he was talking about everything under the sun I kept trying to get back to this Newell/Foretravel.  The salesman said it was a 2002 U320 but didn't know how much she wanted for it and would call her if we were interested.  I think he was trying to protect her from all of the Lookers out there.  Well we got back to our campground and a few minutes later the salesman called and gave us her phone number.  We called her and went to see the coach.  Without getting into particulars we agreed upon a price and will give her a deposit tomorrow and pickup the coach within 120 days.  We do have the sale conditional based upon inspection.

Would appreciate it if one of you Foretravel owners could PM me with a contact in the area that could preform the preinspection.

I will also be contacting Foretravel tomorrow and gather any info. about the coach from "Mother".  I understand that her husband took meticulous care of the coach both inside and out and has full maintenance records that I will review in the next couple of days before we depart the area for home.

My wife and I are so excited.  We are looking forward to our new life in our "NEW" Foretravel not to mention meeting some of you in our travels.

Life is Good. ;D

Welcome - and I hope you don't mind I split this out as its own topic and in one of the top boards.  I want to make sure the request for inspection assistance gets seen.

I might suggest contacting Brett Wolfe about inspection - he's based in Texas but you never know if he's available to travel.

Welcome!  As in fine wine, the 2002 was a very good year of coach!  As was the 1990s-2012s.

Enjoy the coach, I know we love our 2002.

Welcome aboard, I know you will enjoy your new home.  I don't envy you the transition from a TT to a FT but I am sure you will survive.  Any questions please ask here, this is the most knowledgeable board around and if someone here does not have an answer there is someone who can find it.
Have Fun

Welcome.

We too went from a TT into a U320.  Absolutely no regrets, you will love it.  It may be that the coach you are looking at is known to someone here.  I would ask the owner if they were members.  There are two members on the Member map near Las Cruces, see menu at top of page.  Also check out Barry Beam's site for a tremendous amount of info on Foretravels.

I believe this is the 2002 U295 3620 that I looked at at Sunland RV in Las Cruces and priced over the market.

Nice coach. The PO past away and had been stored in a garage for several years. When I saw it, they had the front slide torn apart replacing the seal bladder. Waited for a out 6 weeks to check it out.

Never got a call and moved on.

If I recall, it had about 75k miles.

Congratulations

Could be the same coach - however this one is a U320 with about 53Kmiles.  It did have a bladder replaced among other things.

I think the price we are paing is fair.
