HWH air compressor

The HWH air compressor will not turn on in my 1997 U295.  All voltages are correct from the 15 amp 12 vdc battery power and also the relay on the buss bar is reading 12 vdc on both sides.  I am not getting 12 vdc from the 12 vdc signal wire which connects to the pressure switch on the compressor.  I took a jumper wire and applied 12 vdc power to the signal wire and the compressor came on.  Is there a in-line fuse for the signal wire that I am not finding?  Any help would be great.

We had the same problem.  If your unit is like ours, the 12v comes from the HWH control box (aluminum box on the ceiling of our center compartment in our 99 U270).  I debugged it and concluded that the relay in the HWH box was either bad or the driver circuit was bad.  I cut that wire and installed a switch near the compressor to connect directly to 12V through a fuse.  That allows us to turn it on and off when we want.  The pressure switch on the compressor turns the pump off when it's up to pressure, so the only reason to turn it off is when we are boondocking and don't want the 12V draw or possibly for noise reduction.  Our pump has a slow leak somewhere (yep, it's on the list...) and will cycle on and off about every hour or so, but the bags/air solenoids hold air for a week or more.

I re-seated all the connectors on the control module and now everything works as advertised.  The air compressor turns on when the up button is pressed.  Now for the next project-installing a CD player in the dash.

That's good news on the HWH system. :)

DON'T cut any holes in the metal instrument panels. It has electroluminescent lighting. My understanding is that any drilling or cutting will likely destroy the dash lighting. You will likely be able to use existing holes.

Our coach has a Sony radio/cd/cassette player in it. Yours is probably similar, and you may be able to replace the existing unit with a player of your choice.

Is there a reserve air tank for the 12V air compressor or does it feed directly to the leveling system and slide bladders?

on our 98 the compressor fed directly to the level system, but on our 03 the compressor feeds a reserve tank, so depends on what system you have.

tom our 2001 has a tank.  under front end of coach, three tanks.  one is for the HWH bladder/level as I understand it.  You read that a 03 has a tank, now a 01 so I would guess an 02 does as well

My 02 has a tank in front for the HWH.  I am installing a switch for the aux compressor so I will not have to pull the fuse when placing in storage.. DAN
