Just got this from a good friend of ours

RV/MH Hall Announces Slate of 2013 Inductees | RV Business

The RV/MH Heritage Foundation board has announced the names of those who will be inducted into the RV/MH Hall of Fame as the Class of 2013. According to a press release, the induction ceremonies will be held at the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Ind., during the annual induction dinner on Aug. 5.

• C.M. Fore (deceased) an RV manufacturer from Foretravel, Inc. in Nacogdoches, Texas. Since founding his company in 1967, he has been a leader in the evolution of luxury Class A motorhomes. He was among the first to use diesel engines in motorhomes, and among the first to build pusher chassis. He built the first uni-body motorhomes and pioneered the use of many household features such as multiple air conditioners, central vacuum systems, ice maker refrigerators and more. He led the concept of factory-owned stores by creating factory outlets in major markets around the country.

Barry, This video really whets my appetite.  Looks like I will have to start planning in earnest for a June visit.  I understand there is also the Auburn/Cord museum and a truck museum in the area.
Thanks

Yes, the Auburn/Dusenburg/Cord Museum is world class. http://www.automobilemuseum.org/about/Pages/default.aspx

We went-- Dianne reluctantly.  I think she enjoyed it as much as I did.  The art deco architecture of the original factory/museum was worth a trip in itself.

Two years ago we went as part of the Heartland National Rally, and really enjoyed it. I'd like to go back, but I have a feeling that this summer is already overpacked. Since I'm retiring two years earlier than we had planned, we aren't completely ready to take off yet. We've got to take two dogs out to our daughter in Wyoming (and match that trip with her busy schedule), a family reunion in SE Nebraska, another one in Upper Michigan, and a convention in St. Louis. Oh yes, sometime in April our first grandchild will be born, so there will be a trip to St. Charles for his baptism, probably in early May.

Just thinking about all of that wears me out. I think I'll go take a nap.

kb0zke, you will learn to leave the coach packed with clothes and stuff. I will take the dirty clothes in and wash them and the return them to the basket and take them back out. Make packing to go much easier. Also we sometimes just take the coach to walmart on the way out of town.... Now driving I can not help you with but you will find that your new FT will make it much easier and more comfortable.  I was on the way south to FL last weekend. I hit a huge snow storm so I pulled into a rest stop and had no issues and was snug and warm. Well one issue was that the sat. dish was covered with snow and it was falling so hard that I got signal fade.  That was a huge issue at the time so I went to the DVR and watched a couple recorded movies I have for just that time.

Michelle,

Thanks for letting us know about C.M. Fore's induction into the RV/MH Hall of Fame.  What a truly deserved tribute to the man who made it possible for us to enjoy one of these magnificent machines.  In my opinion Foretravel is by far the most "bang for the buck motorhome" on the road new or vintage. I'm sure all of us would have wanted to meet him and I know his legacy will live on for a long time.  I hope to see a Foretravel in there when I visit!

Barry,

It would be terrific if the museum could get some input from you for the display for Mr Fore. References to your website are found all over the web for Foretravel history and specs on the different models throughout the years.

Thanks for sharing the videos and and the museum is a must see for all of us that love rving.  The Spartan trailer brought back memories of the one my family and I lived and traveled in back in the early fifties when I was little kid.  I remember the big front window and the struggles my Dad had trying to pull it with his Ford.  I remember the hide-a-bed sofa was under the front window and faced backwards towards the living room.  I also remember being told repeatedly not to touch the coal oil heater I was fascinated with as most little boys would be.  You could see the flame inside and it was very hot to the touch!
