Just bad luck

Yesterday after 5 days at Chula Vista RV park we headed home to Orange County and were stopped at the San Onfre Boarder Patrol Check point when a semi slowly rolled by us on passenger side of motor home and proceded to rip right hand mirror off coach.  The coach was just repainted and all I could think about was this giant hole on the outside bulkhead.  Turns out the mirror manufacturer builds shear points into the arms.  The mirror was dangling by its wires and no damage to coach.  Mirror wiped out.  Called Ramco in PM and they will have replacement at my office Fri.  The trucker stopped and his insurance seems like they will pay, as I wasn't moving at the time mirror was hit.  Still not a great start of using the re-done coach.  Elliot

Sorry to hear that.  I had a truck flatbed go under my mirror as I laid on the horn. We were pulled forward at the flying J going in to pay.

You are lucky he stopped. Unless there are other witnesses that are willing to step up it's your word against his. Although at the border check there are probably cameras that caught it. I see a dash cam in your future.

Had a school bus take off  driver's side mirror in a construction zone.  He did not stop.

When I was pulling freight cross country the truck driver was always guilty until proven innocent. I was bob tailing and making a right hand turn on a two lane road when a woman ran into my right rear tandems. I was charged with a preventable accident. Received a ticket and the company I was leased to charged me with the accident. :o Had I not taken pictures of the accident scene and her skid marks the accident would have stayed on my record. The ticket was voided and the accident removed from my record ONLY because I had taken pictures at the scene. The company I was leased to however paid out $9000 in lieu of going to court. Go figure :-[

The Drivers Insurance Company Travelers has decided he was at fault and issuing a check to cover cost of new mirror.  I will install the new unit. As well that ends well in this case. Just an annoyance.  Thanks for the replies. Elliot
