Moby the U280

Maybe it isn't the most original name in the world but my wife took one look and said it and I think it's rather stuck. This is Doug Weil's old rig and I'm still pinching myself that we have this nice a moveable vacation cabin in our driveway. "Foretravel" of any vintage, and "My Tax Bracket" I never thought would go together but this deal was so so good I didn't have much of a choice. Looking forward to learning everything I can about it here... --Jay

Welcome and congratulations!!

I'm looking to name our rig "breaking wind"...but it's been a hard sell w/ the DW for some reason.

Bill, Bill, Bill.... no, no, no....

Back in the 90s, we had a lovely 28-ft Pearson sailboat....  her name was Cheers and the transom had the logo of that famous bar of TV fame emblazoned on the back.  Like other crazy boat owners, we sold the 28-ft for a 36-ft Pearson and the new owner kept Cheers at the same marina.  One day, while walking the dock to our new boat, we noticed our beloved Cheers no longer had her name on the transom.

Instead, her new name glared back at me...  Breakin' Wind.  On, my!  :o  :'(

Pat,
"Breaking wind" is better than Bills first choice "Passing Gas"  With these choices I think we may go unnamed for quite sometime!

It's twice as funny cuz they are both so appropriate. >:D They surely do both of those things, pushing that much frontal area through the air, and gas goes in and gas goes out... I'm glad I'd set my coffee cup down beforehand!

I twice saw a boat on our travels (the last time in Kingston, ON) named 'Breaking Wind'. They had named their dingy 'Little Fart'.

Some boat owners have no class!  In Waukegan Harbor there was a Jewish guy who named his powerboat "Yom Skippur"

Now that's good.

One of the best boat names we heard on marine radio behind the Outer Banks of NC was "Change Order"... we guessed it was a building contractor, and we had a pretty good idea of how he paid for his boat!  :))

And the second best boat name was in St. George's Harbour in Bermuda... the sailboat was "Bad Boy," owned by a criminal defense attorney who told us that "a lot of bad boys helped pay for this boat"!

Our first Foretravel was named the "Late Fee" ... long story, but not unlike the "Change Order" scenario.  This one WAS named the "Problem Child" because of all the issues we had to straighten out ... but the name no longer applies!  Gotta think up a new one.
