Anyone know what this switch is for?

Talking about extra wire reminds me of a question I have about an extra switch I have in my '93 U300. The switch I am talking about is located to the left of the top drawer but to the right of the kitchen sink.......does anyone know what this switch is for? Thanks in advance......i cannot figure it out!

Steve, if you have an electric hot water heating element, my guess is that is the switch to turn it on. Electric hot water heating was not original on the coach that it may have been added.

Ken, good thought...that is probably right!  The switch is a standard FT switch with a green LED light right below it....light illuminated when the switch is on. My guess is that Ken is right! Thanks.

Steve,

From your description of the location and the fact that it's a green light, that matches one that we have in the same place:  in our coach it turns on the Shurflow water pump.  The electric water heater light is a red light; when lit indicates it is heating.

I went out to my coach and looked. There are two switches on the front of the cabinet, one labeled water pump and the other labeled water heater. Both have green led indicators, and the water heater one also has a red led. Since the coach is still winterized (snow predicted for Monday!) I can't try things, but I'll bet ours works like Don says.

My water heater switch in that location had a green and red light.
When selected on ( this is for  propane ) the green light will come on, if it doesn't lite the green light will go out and the red light will come on.
Recycle the switch to try again.

Steve,

If your U300 is like ours, the switches will look like below. The one on the left is the under sink electric water heater. You can see it if you  open the twin doors and look under the sink. I unplugged mine so the switch comes on but does nothing.

The other two switches are the water pump and the water heater. If the water heater lights successfully, the red light will go out and just the green light will stay on. If the red light stays on you have to carefully clean all the connections at the water heater, unplug the board connector and clean those connections and should remove the board and clean the ground connection also. This has fixed mine when it would not light.

The water pump has a second switch in the bathroom with the same green light. If the pump does not operate, the relay is under the white plastic cover in the wet compartment on a 36 footer but think it's on the forward wall in the main compartment on a 40 footer. The relay is located at the bottom. It may need the terminals cleaned if it does not click when the switch is operated. This happened once on ours.

My '94 has two switches there; 1) for the water pump that can also be controlled from the Bathroom vanity. and 2) for the L.P.gas Hot water heater. allows it to ignite.

Yes Pierce, that is the sequence of the lights my wife remembers.
If you end up with the red light it isn't lit.

Thanks everyone......I have two switches under the countertop by the right side of the sink....one is for the water pump and the other is for the water heater.

My other single switch that I am talking about is to the left side of the drawer. As others have mentioned it is either for the electric part of the water heater (which I do not have, mine is gas only) or it is for the electric instant hot water located under the sink, which I have also disconnected since it is unnecessary.

In fact I even disconnected the water purifier, instant hot water and water for my ice maker since they are only additional sources for leaks. My next step is to disconnect the water supply leading to these additional units by capping the water line.....I hate water leaks, especially from unnecessary items!

That is very unusual for a switch in a FT to not have a label.  My guess is that it was an add on by a previous owner .  Since you have eliminated other things that it may control I would not worry about it.  May make an easy point to switch something else.
