Level System warning light, Travel light out (split from Re: Auto level malfunction)

Hi Guys and Gals,

This problem probably is related to the auto level system. After driving for several hours, I notice the level system light occasionally illuminating on the dash, the alarm beeper sounding and the travel light goes off. No change in driving performance at the at time and no other signs or symptoms.

Pressing the HWH reset switch on the left dash or the travel button does force it to quit though the problem usually returns. It is sporadic and does finally subside after a while. Leveling the coach later is always normal. I thought of the plug to the HWH panel, but why would a loose connection show up routinely after half a day on the road. This has been going on for several days now. I suspect a sensor somewhere is aging or leaking, but where? Gremlins!

Any ideas?

Jim,

I would check the wire connections for corrosion at the pressure switches on your manifolds. Could also be a pressure switch starting to go bad.

My recollection is that the symptoms are similar to the problem we had on our 1997 coach. While traveling, the "Travel" light would go out and the alarm would sound.

Instructions from HWH were to unplug/plug all connections, then test. I did that. I also checked the ground connections. I also pulled and reseated all fuses. The problem persisted. I sent the touch panel and control board to HWH. They found and repaired a broken wire that I did not find.

It appears that "travel fatigue" took its toll on a connection in our unit. Your results are likely to be different, but do look for bad connections in the controller and the touch panel.

At the back of my touch pad someone ( FT ) had secured to multi prong harness with a wire tie. When I replaced the Touch pad face I left the wire tie off.  You know what happened next. Intermittent travel light, new wire tie, problem solved.  Wire ties are cheap, keep a handful at hand.

Are you referring to the 6 pak pressure switches? And where is the HWH controller often located?

Jim,
Yes there are pressure switches on the 6 pack manifolds. Someone with a '02 will have to answer as to the location of the HWH controller location.

It took more than a year before the plug came off the back of our touch panel. I neglected to secure it with a tie wrap after the repair. The connector came off as we pulled into a campground. I applied a small tie from our assortment of sizes.

On an 02 coach the HWH controller could be in several locations.  Ours on our 42 ft coach was on the passenger side, first bay, mounted on the wall.  Send me a pm and I an walk you through what to look for on your coach!
