Does adding solar panels, controllers, etc. qualify for second home tax credit?

What is the real world situation for solar and RVs as second homes? Looks as if you can get a credit for the cost of the installation. Credits should be straight dollar for dollar reduction in your total tax bill. California looks good this way on paper. Anyone used the deduction/credit yet?

Also tankless water heaters?

we do not get those deals here in Canada and cannot have a second home or cottage or Rv and get any tax perks. I gather that is why our banks and money system does not hit the skids now and again like USA and others.

Don't know about second homes, but for primary residences (our U270), the solar energy credit worked fine for us.  Thought about claiming the MCD shades as energy conservation, but chickened out :)) .

Well, wouldn't that be nice.  This link led me to an explanation of how these programs work.  Second homes qualify.  More research is required but it doesn't seem to make any difference how much time you spend in your second home.    I don't know if i want to add enough solar to be completely grid free but a 50% source would be pretty nice especially if one was particularly energy stingy to begin with.  We have done pretty well for a week or more on only a couple hours of generator per day.  Water and waste capacity usually are the limiting factors for us

Time for more research!

Thanks for the memory jog.
