Oil Change

Finally got around to changing the hydraulic oil yesterday. Of course, if I'd planned it it wouldn't be all over I-26 in Tennessee and ending with a big puddle at the Visitors' rest stop at mile post 42. Blew the line that goes to the cooling fans. Got towed in to Johnson City and had it repaired and back on the road. Probably won't be as much strain on the system with the $420 out of pocket. Of course, on the good side, the engine compartment and the PT Crusier will never rust!

I had that happen in my 93 Between Mobile and Jackson MS. Had to get towed 50 miles to Pascagoula. Got lucky to find a shop that made up a new hose on the spot. One hour and $150.00 later we were on our way!

Happened to us in Alamogordo NM last spring. We have a separate reservoir for the power steering. I drove the coach slowly while watching the engine temp, probably should have disconnected the drive belt first but we did not have far to go. Didn't think I'd need the tow. Guess it depends where you are when the hose blows.

Where did it blow??? Wondering if it was dry rot or blew from hose rubbing on something causing the hose to fail....Ears perked up since mine is the same year as yours

Both hoses going from the pump to the fan blew on mine, about the center of the coach. Don't know if it was age or rubbing. My guess would be rubbing. When I was in Mecca last month they replaced the hose that goes from the reservoir to the pump as it was leaking. That leaking was caused by rubbing.

The line blew right under the rear motor mount. Mechanic said it was rubbing and put a section of heavy radiator hose over the new on to prevent this happening again. I would have liked to have changed the filters but at $95 an hour I thought I'd do that myself on the schedule I'd planned to change the oil on. Sometime in September when I have a month to sit.
