Dead bolt front door lock - broken "connector"

For want of a better label, I'm calling the flat metal piece that connects the lock mechanism through the dead bolt actuator to the inside turn knob, the "connector."  My sad story is the last 1/2 inch of the connector broke off and now its too short to do the job. Anyone know the manufacturer / part number of the lock so that I can try to get a new connector or if needed, a whole new lock mechanism?  It is a 2004 model year PTL door but should be similar to many others.

I'd be glad to use anything that fits but a quick look at Home Depot brought no joy.  (I haven't called FOT yet but will do so tomorrow.)

You might check with a locksmith. That appears to be a part common to many cylinder locks.

Larry, the connector probably had scores in it so it could be used for different door thickness. I bet that it is the same connector used in home deadbolts. Check out Lowe's and you will probably see that new locks come with the same connector. Also a locksmith may have such parts. Barry & Cindy

Thanks ---- unfortunately I'm not near a lock smith and the part while similar to others is has a different end that connects to the lock.  Per Foretravel, it comes with the door from PTL - so that's my next call.

Larry, Home Depot had a package with several of those connectors last fall. I also ordered a complete deadbolt cylinder from Home Depot online since mine went south last December. They shipped it to our RV park in about 5 days.

I don't know if your deadbolt is like our early 90"s deadbolts. Our deadbolts are a 5" "setback". The "setback" is the distance from the door edge and the center of the cylinder. These extra long setbacks are no longer available for under $200, the price of a commercial deadbolt. Putting in a new cylinder fixed my problem and my new cylinder had several of the connector bars that came with it. Price was around $30, again from Home Depot Online.

Thanks Kent - I was in Home Depot yesterday and couldn't find anything and now looking on line can't determine exactly what would work.  Do you still have any of the paperwork showing exactly what you got?

Thanks Kent --- on close look at the picture on line, the tail pieces (now I know what they are called) are different from the one on my lock.  I ordered a new lock from PTL --unfortunately 3 times the price of the solution you found.

Larry, did you find a lock with a 5" setback or is yours the conventional  2 1/4"setback?
