2003 LR Side Table

Has anyone remodeled their 2003 Living Room side table (the one with the table lamp on it)?  For us, it doesn't provide enough space for anything useful (except maybe to house the suitcase with the Foretravel technical manual).  I'd like to make it wide enough and/or high enough to put my hanging files in (side by side or one above the other).  However, it seems if I make it wider, the depth is too massive.  So, I'd like to make it not as deep (16 inches) but wider and perhaps taller (just under the window ledge).

Is it just sitting on top of the carpet or has the carpet been cut away?

There appears to be a radiator or something under it.  Does it need the depth or can it be moved back?

If anyone has changed this table, I'd like to see some pictures of what they have done.

Thanks

That's one of the AquaHot "outputs" - it's similar to what's in your basement bays.  It has hoses going to it.  You'll want to keep it functional - there might be a little room to move it (within the constraints of the hoses).  Steve has a photo and will attach it after I get my post up.

And there's the wiring for the lamp and likely an outlet or two.

I changed mine out to the double sized one with a file drawer and two other drawers but it has to be the right shape for the Aquahot stuff under it.

More room in a 40' or 42' for a bigger cabinet.  In our 36', we use the inside space for whatever will fit.  But we did remove the table lamp, not very functional as a lamp, took upma lot of space and made the top of the cabinet pretty useless.  The brass base had scratched up the Corian top a bit so so a bit of sanding with 400 and 600 grit wet or dry paper  got those out and a nice coat of wax shined it up at least as much as all of the other Corian surfaces.  This made the top of the cabinet at least more useful.

There are kits that you can buy to mix an epoxy like filler to plug the hole left from the lamp.  Trouble is matching the color.  In ours there was an irregularly shaped 3/8 inch hole, not a cleanly drilled hole.  After the buff and shine we pushed a tapered cork that was bigger than the hole in as far as it would go.  The next day we pushed it in a wee bit more and then cut it off flush with a razor blade.  It has stayed in place for about a year.  The color is actually rather close to the trim color on the top.

Actually my coach has a 6 foot closet so the front is only a36 foot coach. Ours is a double galley so that might be the difference.

I had mine taken out and a new desk made for a laptop.  Top drawer holds "stuff" and the bottom drawer is the printer drawer.  Expensive for us though... $2,500 :o

Originally, I put the old table in the basement ( had to cut about 4" off the bottom for it to fit) but it turned out to be too heavy for use since it was located on the front of the slide.  Old table ended up in the trash cause I broke and it cracked when I lifted it out.
