Rear TV replacement and rear ID / clearance lamps

Thanks to a post here I was able to track down the ID clearance lamp wires in the engine compartment. I found that they had slipped out of the conneters. A quick snip and some fresh water proof connecters and "voila" I have lights!!

After that I decided I was on a roll...I took apart the rear TV cabinet and removed the old TV. We had a 19" LED TV from our old TT that was not being used. It had a THULE outside mount on it that I modified to a fix mount by flipping the mount upside down. ( Sorry everyone I forgot to take photos while doing the install...newbie mistake ) I reinstalled the trim pieces from the cabinet after getting the mount secured. We are pretty happy with the results.

Lol....the DW just reminded me that the Jack Anntena needed to be installed....I got that done in about 10 minutes. Easy job and works great matched up with no modifications to the existing wiring.

That's an interesting TV cabinet. I have never seen one like that in a Grand Villa. Most had 13" TVs. Is it possible that was a custom job done by Foretravel? It looks great.

The earlier units had that type of cabinet with the vcr under the tv and it was a small like a 13 inch tv. He has done a great job of remodel to make his new tv fit like it was made by foretravel

Kent, our '89 GV has the same identical cabinet. It was empty, with no mods. I changed it just enough to put a 15" Dynex flat screen with a DirecTV box sitting on top of the VCR. We still have a load of the old VCR tapes so the DW can watch them in back while I can watch the DVDs up front on the 32".

Thanks Red, Kent...the THULE mount I used was meant for a wall mount so I had to flip it to mount on the bottom of the cabinet. Since that cabinet is so small my hand just barly fit behind the TV with a wrench making a 1/16 turn at a time. We also have a ton of VHS tapes still so we kept the VCR instead of upgrading with a DVD.

The reception with the JACK antenna is great at home with out raising the antenna  We leave Monday morning for a week trip so we'll test it and see how reception is while on the road.

Jeff, I just noticed--we have an access cabinet door right next to the wall. It sure made things easier for us. Our closet is right behind/forward of the TV cabinet and there is an access panel in there also.

My Previous owner had a cabinet built for VHS tapes.  It will hold at least 50.  I note that DVDs don't fit as well.  Well, I did not have a lot of VHS tapes only a few.  However, it seems that many garage sales have a variety of old VHS tapes for sale and now my cabinet for VHS tapes is full with some really good titles had about a quarter a piece.  I realize that these take up more room but we don't full time and the space is not at a premium.  I have not changed out my rear TV yet.  It seems to work fine but have bought one with a DVD such that I can also watch DVDs in bedroom as well. BTW, I like the installation of the 19 TV.

Nitehawk....I thought about cutting a hole and making a access panel as my next step if I couldn't reach back there.

Charles do you have a pic you can post of the VHS cabinet? I'd like to see it. Maybe a future project...

Sure, sorry for poor photo quality. It is made out of walnut to match the interior.  The black band is elastic with grommet (?) holes in it such that it will hook over a screw on each end. This elastic keeps the VHS tapes in place while driving.  It is held to the wall with velcro.  I said it will hold 50 and I was underestimating the amount.  It has 4 rows that hold 19 tapes each.  Perhaps you can see from the photo that it is in the bedroom against the wall next to the little mirror/make up area at the foot of the bed.  It really does not seem to be a problem to get between it and the bed for me.  Hope this is helpful.  It is a nice cabinet tho the photos really don't show it as well as I would like.  Charles
