retrofit dual pane windows

Just a question may have been answered. Is it possible to retrofit dual pane windows in a grand villa vintage 1988.

I know that Kent Speers 1993 Grand Villa was retrofitted in 2009.

I asked the company in FL or AR once about doing my 1993, they said they did not offer that service.  They only replaced the double pane windows where the seals had creeped, by reworking what was in the coach.

Those windows are standard sized and radiused. Take measurements and call. They know their business.

Xtreme works with them regularly as they recommend replacing windows on a full body paint (no labor charge).

$3-4K total including shipping.

The walls as I understand this are not as thick on the earlier coaches.  Need thicker walls for the thicker window assemblies is what I understand.  More questions and measuring are needed.

what year did they start making thicker walls?
if they are thicker walls does that mean the interior dimensions are less??

1996-1997?  If the specs from Barry quote insulated windows its my understanding the walls are thicker.  Someone needs to verify this but the info was mentioned here I think.

Have not measured other coaches to compare interior width but would not be readily visible as the total difference is minor I would think.

I'm not sure about the thicker walls.

Our Peninsula Windows were installed by Foretravel in 2009. Cost was close to $5,000 as I recall. We think the Peninsula's are the best and much better than the OEM Creation windows used in the later models, but Foretravel did over tighten the frames resulting in unsightly dimples. I have seen Peninsula windows installed by Xtreme and they look much better. If going to NAC makes any sense, go to Xtreme.

Here's a photo illustrating the wall thickness on a 99 320. Wish I had one of our 300 to compare.

Congrats!  I guess I can delete that classified then?

(I wonder how many coaches have been bought/sold as a result of the forum?)

I think if you call Foretravel you will find no difference in the width. James changes these out often on FBP jobs because the labor is free (they have to come out anyway). Its actually easier for him with new windows as he uses a compressible oval gasket with adhesive om one side (no weepy goop!). Foretravel builds to an industry standard, and Peninsula Glass (Motion Windows) is the Foretravel provider. Not sure who the use for the new frame-less windows like the Phenix uses.

Wish we could get more play from "Old Faithful"!

Dave - good info, thanks!

I was a little suprised he said 4-5 skill level, but I guess it is demo, slide in and screw - if everything is perfect. When does that happen, guess it is the range (5).
