Entry Step

With the engine off and the door closed, the entry step is extended. I am at my storage building, and I would like the step to be retracted while in storage. I cannot find a switch that will let the step be retracted with the door closed. Help. Thanks. Larry

It does not come with one, You can add it,

I think this is for the air operated one.
Modify outside air step wiring to allow step to retract when ignition is off...

this 10 minute fix does the job and is simple to add

So.  As I ponder doing this modification to my air step, I am wondering what happens as the air depletes itself over time.  Won't the step stay in the last position?  In other words, if I closed it with the added switch, when the air was depleted, opening the door would not be able to open the step because there was no air to change the position?  Am I thinking correctly?

Correct...  It takes air pressure to open and close.  And gravity may do its thing after air pressure is depleted.

what I have done as my air depletes sooner than I would like due to a few leaks around the footbrake unit that is a bi--h to get too to tighten, is make a thin wedge in wood and just push it between step and surrounding body and once all air is gone it stays thay way-up!
I can remove the wedge and the step stays in that position. If I want to get in coach after a week or so I just grab the step and pull down and if I do not run engine and want step back up I manually push it up and replace wedge. Simple

This is an update to my original post concerning my entry step. A call to Motorhomes of Texas got me an answer. To place the entry step into the closed position (air operated single step), you open the generator access door and relieve the air pressure to the step by pulling down on a knob/lever on the air pressure regulator. Then you push the step into the closed position. Larry

why go to the trouble of opening the gen door etc when the simple switch you mount inside door/step area is so easy to do???

John,
I contacted FOT and Motorhomes of Texas about installing a switch to allow the step to be retracted when away from the motorcoach. Both service advisors said they did not have or install a switch to do that. Therefore, I have elected to go the generator door route. Thanks. Larry
