Dave & LJ's Remodel

Dave & LJ's is in Woodland, WA and I am going to stop by their place on Tuesday for an estimate to install a residential refrigerator.
I am wondering if anyone has experience with them and has an opinion about their work?
Thanks

Thanks Dave,
Our dining table is across from the fridge and is cantilevered between two booth type seats. Did they also remove the table? Would hate to see them put any weight on it.

Does the NDR1492 Dometic have any value? Does anyone need any parts? Bins, shelves, etc.? Could probably have the whole thing if in the area; it is working fine.

if it is below the window, there will be no weight on it - Mine came in doors off, laying on its back, on a sheet of plywood spanning the forks of the lift truck

Parliament did mine in 9 hours at $99 per hour

Have they done many residential fridge remodels?  Their website does mention a number of remodeling services like blinds, flooring, and TVs, but I didn't see appliances like fridges mentioned.

I spoke with Dave on the phone and he said they have done some refrigerators, but not many.
FWIW, Home Depot has the Samsung RSG257 AA side by side on sale now. $1898 and 10% off right now for any appliance over 300 or so. Makes it $1708.

Rsg257 is side by side. DW least favorite configuration. All three of our current refrigerators have migrated to French door, her favorite has two lower freezer drawers vs. one, less opportunity to lose stuff deep in freezer, and easier to see what you have. In door water/ice a convenience, but trade off is significant storage lost in door.

Harder to keep a double freezer closed in the coach.  So we went with the three for in the ouch and double lower in the house.

When Dave and LJ's dad had the RV remodeling business in Vancouver, they installed heated tile in our 1996 Foretravel.  The job was very well done.  That was a while ago (2003) and not a frig, but I would certainly go talk to them.  It isn't a hard job -- and certainly not the effort that OMC made it into.  The only issue is the weight of the refrigerators, especially the old one.  I would want to look at examples of any woodwork they have done as that if anything, is the tough job (IMHO).

Dick and Rockey - do you have Intellitec lighting controls below the fridge or is it just the storage pull-outs?  Moving the lighting controls is a much larger job than just the fridge remodel so it's something to factor in for your decision.

Do not understand the comment concerning keeping the two doors closed, just use a velcro strap around the two handles :(

Dave, I think Tim means the French door style fridge that has 2 full-width drawers for the freezer section, not the side-by-side style.

Thanks Michelle,

No Intellitec. Just the drawers.
I was wondering about having a vented panel put on below fridge and then some sort of opening in new floor to provide for better air flow. Would that be a good idea or not?

You are going to have to close off one of the vents you have now. Either the roof or the back.  It does not need too much air and it is also now an ingress for hot air and cold air so you will want to see what makes sense for the un it you choose.

Weren't there a couple of posts a few weeks back where the old back vent (coach sidewall one) allowed rain in for someone's fridge remodel and caused problems with the new fridge?

I am planning to block off the vent behind the fridge. What has worked well for others?
Also, I did not think I had a 110 VAC outlet back there that was on the inverter, wrong! The ice maker is plugged into a duplex that is on the inverter. I don't know how it is fused though. Hope it is good enough to start and run the new fridge while we travel.
