Sirius/xm radio

Has anyone added a Sirius/XM radio to the dash am/fm radio in a 2003 Foretravel?

I added it to my 01  I put in a new radio and love it.

We have a 2003 U295.  The dash radio has a CD and cassette player, but no auxiliary plug that I can find.  We did add an XM receiver ("Starmate 8") with a clam shell antenna which I mounted inside the end cap.  I posted previously on the antenna installation.  The receiver is one of the models that allows an "a la carte" subscription ($8/month for 50 stations).  It runs on 110 volts and the output is through a Yamaha receiver that we use for TV, etc.  While driving we use the inverter to power the setup.  It works great and really helps on those long interstate drives.

The state of Sirius/XM is changing without a lot of necessary info out there to make a good choice. Sirius/XM tends to want to muddle the facts and details, probably to not mess with current customer base.

As most know, even though the two business started out as competition, they are now merged into one business.

Sirius and XM each use completely different and incompatible satellite technologies and each has their own incompatible radio receivers. They have changed their station lineup so most of the station numbers are now the same on XM & Satellite.

The future of the business is going to be from the XM satellites, partly because XM has more channel expansion capacity then Sirius. Change has started and a new radio receiver is available called "SiriusXM" and receives signals only from XM satellite. So there are now three different radio receiver choices, XM, Sirius & SiriusXM. Sirius will probably not have many new future radio receiver offerings.

We recently purchased the SiriusXM Lynx radio receiver, which works very well. To use radio there are two docks, Home and Vehicle, each comes with a XM satellite antenna and remote control. We believe that Lynx is the best radio to purchase to get all that Sirius has to offer. Only SiriusXM radios receive all the channels. There are a group of channels not available to Sirius radios. And there are a few channels not on XM radios.

We ended up learning about the future of Sirius/XM when we wanted to turn on our Jeep's OEM Sirius radio and also find a new replacement for our motorhome broken XM radio. We found that no matter what XM/Sirus customer service said, in the end our Jeep radio was not capable of receiving our choice talk shows. We now move our SiriusXM Lynx radio receiver from our Jeep to our motorhome.

Again, everyone thank you for your replies.

We got a gizmo that slides into the cassette player and plugged into our cell phone.

Now we can listen to I Heart Radio thru the dash radio.

We also like TuneIn Internet radio, in addition to iHeart. That is, in addition to our XM portable receiver still on a Lifetime subscription.

We use a Bluetooth RECEIVER that has a male stereo plug to convert any audio system to work with a Bluetooth connection. We use it with our iPad & Android phone to listen to Internet radio over our motorhome sound system.
