Door Window on 1996 U 295

Currently the window in the front door of our Foretravel U295 1996 is being held in the up (open) position by a piece of rusted heavy-duty wire that is hooked over one of two rollers in the upper right-hand side of the window. Can anyone tell me how this window was originally equipped to go up and down and to stay up when open and to come down when one wanted to close it? What we have works, but a rusty wire isn't my idea of the class this coach deserves! Thanks for suggestions/information.

Probably needs the track replaced. I think they are just held by friction.

That may be the case, Steve, but there are two rollers that were installed in the upper right hand curved corner of the window frame as a part of the frame. They must have had a purpose!

If I remember correctly they had some type of cord that went to a spring . Maybe if you remove the inner flange you can see how it might have been.

When I bought my coach that cord was broken. Foretravel fixed it by replacing the window.
I wonder if Encore has one of those?

When Foretravel reduced their parts inventory some years ago Encore RV bought a lot of those parts. A good place to look for parts for older Foretravels.

I've got a '96 U-295 and the door glass is one piece. That is it's double like thermopane. What's the deal with that window opening up?

Larry, does your U 295 have a screen door? Mine doesn't and the window on the door is split into two sections with the lower segment sliding up to give us some air through the door window. Also, we don't have dual pane windows. All of ours are single pane. Your coach must have been made late in the 1996 cycle because I thought that it was in 1997 that Foretravel went to screen doors on the front door and thermopane windows.
