Angled shower surround replacement discussion

Curious if anyone (besides Leo and Ineke Volkert   ) has had their angled shower enclosure redone/replaced at FOT.  We have been toying with the idea of having our shower redone - would love to put in one of the curved ones but ours has the bedroom AquaHot duct under it, so that's a no-go per David F.  Perhaps something similar to the Volkerts' but staying with the existing angled base, using the frameless design?

Michelle,  our 36' has the Aquahot in the BR at the bottom of the chest of drawers on the passengers side and in the bathroom at the bottom of the front wardrobe cabinet.  In the angles shower there is a vent grill in the face of the angled part of the base and a vent at the bottom of the angled cabinet in the bedroom the Dr side.  When the heat is on in the BR nothing comes out of the vent under the shower or on the opposite side in the BR.  I always thought it was just venting for the base of the shower.  I guess I will have to look under there to see if there is another Aquahot heat exchanger.

In any case we were just thinking about having someone replace the brass shower surround parts with brushed nickel parts using the same glass.  We are both taller so getting rid of the cross bar at the top of the door would be nice.  So we were thinking about an all glass frameless enclosure like we have in the house.  The thing I need to check on is how thick the glass needs to be and how much it will weigh.  In our bathroom the glass is 3/8" thick.

I'm interested to see what folks have to say.

Aqua Hot fan coils can be moved as long as the power wires and pex pipe is moved/extended/shorten as needed along with the coils.  This would be easier if the above cabinet, shower, closet, etc. were already removed.

There has to be some grills with no warm air coming out to provide return air to the near by fan coil.  Had a client that had nearly no air coming from one of his vents.  But if you opened the cabinet door above the coil, the air flow jumped right up -- no return air vent grill in his case.

Roger,

  We have not purchased a FT yet, but one of the first things I plan on doing is painting everything brass either brushed nickel or antiqued bronze.  I know it will be a lot of work, but to me well worth it to get rid of the brass everywhere.  That may be an option for you if you cannot do the frameless, which awesome sounds like a great idea.

There are two vents on the face of the chest of drawers, pass side, BR.  Air goes in one, hot air comes out the other.  I think that the vent under the shower base and the one at the base of the angled cabinet on the dr side of the BR is just to provide ventilation under the base.  I don't think there are two heat exchangers in the bedroom.

But I will look in the morning.

Brass can be darkened to look like a darkened antique brass using chemicals but they don't always work well on factory treated anti-tarnish fixtures.  Brushed chrome trim rings for the halogen puck lights are about $9 each from FOT.  Brushed nickel knobs are whatever you want to spend on them.  Light fixtures can get changed out.  The shower surround is probably the biggest challenge.  Someday maybe.  I'd like a new paint job too.

OK,  I looked this AM under the shower base.

It is all open.  I can see the vent into the bedroom from the vent in the bathroom.  There is a square wooden box in the middle of the base.  That should be where the trap is.  I can see the red and blue PEX lines running to the shower and some 12v wiring as well.  No Aquahot heat exchanger in my 2001 U320 36' under the angled shower.
