2001 U320- What air vents in rear of bus for?

The vents I am talking about are:  one under the shower floor; one in bedroom on each side; and one on floor area in bath under closet.  When using the Aqua Hot/or the electric option for furnace, only one vent blows hot air in bathroom and bedroom. It is one of the vents on curbside. In effect, the back area only has one vent. How do you activate the other vents?

Thanks,

David

They most likely are the intake vents, supplying air to the heat exchange blowers.

Generally if there is no provision for air to be released (or return) in a heating system then theoretically it becomes ineficient as all you are doing is inflating a kind of baloon in the interior of coach. ie- hot air is trapped. So to allow air to circulate freely you build in "escape routes" for it, hence the vents.

Our 1995 U320 (with Aqua-Hot) has a thermostat in the bathroom to control the heat exchanger in the bathroom. There are two registers under the closet doors. One is for supply (the hot air comes out) and the other is for return air. Another thermostat in the bedroom controls the bedroom heat exchanger. The supply air comes out through a vent on the driver's side, below the drawers. There is another vent on the passenger side of the bedroom (under the cabinet below the lighted mirror). I suspect that vent is to allow air to freely flow under the shower pan.

David,  it depends on year and floor plan.  Our 2001 U320 36' has a vent on the face of the base of the shower and a single vent at the base of the cabinet in the front of the BR on the DR side.  These are just to provide ventilation under the shower base.  There are two vents in a stack in the bathroom at the base of the from closet on the curb side.  One is for air going into the aquahot heat exchanger, the other is for heat coming out.  This heat exchanger is controlled by the thermostat in the bathroom.  There are two vents in a stack at the base of the BR front cabinet with drawers on the curb side.  One for air in, one for heat out.  This heat exchanger is controlled by the thermostat (zone 2) just behind the driver's seat.  Zone 1 on that thermostat controls three heat exchangers in the front of the coach.

If the thermostats are working and calling for heat and the blowers aren't blowing, there are fuses inside the aquahot box.  All of ground connections for the blowers return to a post in the aquahot box as well.  Mine were loose, took a while to figure that out.

Roger your explanation is dead on our floor pan. With other explanations and yours, I never thought about a cold air return or circulation vent. I feel sort of dumb now since I understand HVAC stuff fairly well.

Well, I am glad I still asked. That has been bugging me for quite some time and could never remember to inquire.

Thanks again to everyone for the response.
