When to hook/unhook

What is the protocol for hooking/unhooking the toad? Is it an issue to block the road in front of your campsite while you do these activities? or should you unhook before you get there and hook after you leave?
Just asking.

I usually unhook when DW goes in to register. Then she leads me to the campsite and pulls thru or next to it if it is a back in.

Unhook Same here.. hook up same place

But i own my camp site and the aproach!

We simply try to unhook and hook up where we will be the least intrusive on the others at the campground. The main thing is don't idle your coach in front of others campsites while hooking or unhooking.

I always ask the campground manager where it is best to unhook/hook unless we have been there before and know campsite and the answer. Sometimes the campsite is long enough that the disconnect is unnecessary, if you are not going to use the toad.

What John says!  Most parks have room (a level spot) at the entrance to disconnect and connect.  Be a nice neighbor.

If I am going to be in a "back in" I unhook at registration.  If it is a "pull thru" I wait until I am parked.  Sometimes if the "pull thru" is difficult to get into on the first try I will unhook in order to get straight or in the correct position.  I never turn off the engine until the turbo has time to cool and I have leveled and extended the slides.  DAN

Disney is the only place I have been to that has a place to unhook just up the road from registration.  If  I have been at the campground before and it is only an overnight, then I do not unhook.  That is pretty rare though.

We have unfortunately found that asking the campground office isn't very reliable.  On multiple occasions we were incorrectly assured we could make a turn with the car still attached.  If we can't see or walk it first and be sure, Steve unhooks while I register.

When we go to a new park I always try and look it up on Google Earth and get an idea of how it is set up!
Most of the time, I do like to unhook at the entrance or office area as to not be in anybody's way!
 I have also started to hook up our rock guard then so I don't have to worry about it dragging when we get to site. Last two parks have had dips just as you enter site... But that just works for me, as I have made it easy to hook up..
