Microflush valve

Hi all.  Some of us are so stubborn that we insist on staying with the Microflush toilets installed in our coaches, and I'm one.  It's a great toilet... when it's working properly.  Of all the issues I've had over the past nine years, the most common is the need to disassemble the valve unit and clean out the little rocks that cause problems.  To simplify this process, I've added a ball valve from Lowe's where the water supply enters the unit.  It was easy, and I wish I'd done it years ago.  When I need to fix it, all I have to do is shut off the water and take it apart - less water all over, and never any need to turn off the city water in the middle of the night.  At the risk of sharing the obvious, a photo is attached.

Has anybody tried installing a water filter to minimize the minerals that gunk up the works?

We bought a portable water softener and all of the hardness related issues vanished. Worth every penny!!!!!!!!

We do the same as Bob, water softener along with vinegar washing the fresh water system once a year. Wouldn't hook up now to a spigot without the softener after using one. We also still like the LF-220 and this helps with the mineral build up on the sealing surface of your flapper valve.

I don't have a Microflush valve, but I do love my Flow Pur Mark 8000 water softener.  It has solved all the mineral build up problems my coach has in the fresh water system.  There are other brands out there, but after research, I really liked the convenience of being able to use regular table salt for  regenerating the system.

I filter all the water that goes into our coach. We fill the tank through filtered water and always run off the coach's water system, we never run off a park water hookup. We have been living full time in the coach for two years and no issues with gunk in the Microphor.
