6V92TA antifreeze

There was a short thread on this a couple of years ago, and Pierce provided a lengthy list of approved antifreeze. Is that list still current, or are there additional products that have been approved? I understand that some of the products on that list may not be available anymore.

What came out when I changed the block header element was the same color as most of us remember for antifreeze, a greenish-yellow. I'd like to put the same stuff back in.

Also, where does it go in? Again, engine information isn't all that helpful.

Well, this morning when I got up it was 60 degrees out. I did a little around the house, then went down to Buffalo to get the antifreeze. I took the whole list of possibilities along, thinking that surely ONE of them would be there. They normally carry only one on the list, and they were out. A case will be there by 7:30 tomorrow morning. By then we will have freezing rain, drizzle, sleet, and maybe some snow. How about some full-timer who wants to get off the road just buy our place, contents and all, and let us head to Texas, North Dakota, or wherever it is warmer.

That last sentence is only partly in jest.

Without all the confusion, the DDC approved & normally used is the standard green type refered to as eythelen (?spel) glycol as used years ago before all the new crap started showing up.  That is what DDC FACTORY Dealership says .  Do what makes you happy.

Thanks, Dave. I do have some of that around here, so maybe I'll dump a bit of that in for now. I'm kind of in a Catch-22 situation, in that I can't use the block heater until I refill the cooling system and run the engine, but it is too cold right now to start the engine without the block heater. Oh well, it will warm up again soon enough, and I have plenty of other things to do here.

Yes, my DDC engine had a 3/4" pipe plug in the elbow between the oil cooler and block near the water pump, 1500 watt did wonderful.

When freezing conditions, if you use the 50/50, all good, If you use the full strength antifreeze and need to mix it, mix it before you pour into the radiator, it will not mix unless you run the engine long enough to mix it, meaning if you do not mix it, you could have a frozen radiator before the mix takes effect.

The block heater element has already been changed. It took a little muscle, but was a pretty straight-forward job. Unfortunately, before I could get the antifreeze I lost replaced Jo Ann and I had to fly up to Washington State for a week. We got back late last night, and today I was going to add the antifreeze. It looks like it will be cold for the next few days, but I think I'll be able to get the antifreeze added. Unfortunately, it sounds like I have to start the engine to circulate the coolant BEFORE I can use the block heater. That will require temperatures above 50 or so, and those days will come soon enough.

Does your coach have the side radiator? If so there should be a small tank with a radiator cap where you can add the fluid. If the rear radiator, there is a radiator cap that is on the top tank of the radiator and is very difficult to add fluid

Thanks, Red. I'll see what I can find tomorrow when it is light. I do have the side radiator, and as I recall there is a square-sided box in the upper right area (looking at the engine from behind the coach) that I think is the place to add coolant. There is also a white plastic container on the left side that looks like an overflow tank. I'll see if I can trace some water lines tomorrow.
