 Bob, to answer your Q, we are also "dry" here and you do not have to put Mastic on all the wall, just the area you can comfortably do in 10 mins or so.
I, as I said, have done tiling over the FOT laminate walls in our 2 coaches and my Brothers bathroom wall and all I do is clean with a strong TSP and hot water mix, then clean water. In our 295 if you remember I had tiled and Ruth wanted it changed a Year later and believe me getting those glass tiles off was not easy. These coaches do not really "move about much" as far as walls are concerned, and the floor Tile I put in 3 yrs ago in Bathroom and kitchen still do not have any grout cracks (I did put a 3/8 sub floor that was glued and stapled).
I have tiled many many thousands of SQ ft in my time and have not had any complaints so I guess I have "some" experience !!!
