Windshield Wiper Blades

Our coach needed new windshield wiper blades. I researched ForeForums and found references to OEM wiper blades from Transportation Accessories Company (TAC). So, I ordered the wiper blades. They arrived yesterday. They probably are OEM for some motorhomes. They were the correct length,(26 inches.) However the difference in the other dimensions and the quality between these wiper blades and the wiper blades on our Foretravel are what makes a Foretravel a Foretravel. I will now order the correct wiper blades from Foretravel. In our storage shed, the only other motorhome that had the heavy duty wiper arms and blades that are on out coach is a Prevost. All the others, Fleetwood, Winnebago, etc. had the OEM type wiper blades that I received from TAC.

I was pleased with refills I bought at O'Reilly's. If the metal parts are still sound you might try refills.

I have not tried them yet  but have been told by others that the Bosch wiper blades from Walmart are good replacements.

Larry and Terry,

I bought a new set of arms and blades and a windshield washer kit from FOT when we were there back in December.  Mine are 20 years old and kind of rusty and I didn't want to wait until there was a problem ...usually when it's raining! >:(

I had already broken one of the plastic fittings on the washer and I decided I didn't want to just try to repair it.  I believe Billy Jack said the blades and and arms are OEM and the washer kit has metal reinforced fittings with all new tubes and attachment parts made by Dyna.  With the motorcade club discount and sales tax all for $160.  They are heavy duty and I believe worth the price.  Right now I have them as spares but will probably replace the old set this summer.

Thanks to everyone for the replies to my post. I will use the wiper blades I purchased from TAC until I go to FOT for my next service. I will then pick up some FOT OEM wiper blades.

OK! I have read your posts, everyone seem to have good things to say about lots of different blades. I have been unable to find any that have a set of holes (with threads on one side) instead of a center post(rivet). My arms do not take the plastic adapters that come with all of the replacement blades that I have found, Bosch, Michlen, Rainex, etc. I have had to drill our the rivet on all of them. Now I've lost one of the bolts from my arm and hope FOT has them.

Horace,
From what I have read and the wiper blades that I have ordered, none match the quality and heavy duty aspects of the original wiper blades that came on our coach. I believe the only place to obtain the correct blades are at FOT and that is where I will obtain mine in the future. I only hope that FOT continues to supply them. Larry

You will find that there are several sources, and I believe I told you where Foretravel gets theirs from.

Pat C,
I looked at AM Equipment website and I am quite certain that the blades they sell are not the OEM wiper blades for my coach. I have been wrong before and I may be wrong this time but If the 26" wiper blades they sell are the ones that they show the pictures of they are not the Bosch wiper blades that are OEM on my coach. And, I do not believe that for the price of $14.83 they could be. I have already purchased wiper blades from a company that were supposed to be OEM wiper blades and they were not. The wiper blades that I purchased and the wiper blades sold by AM Equipment may be OEM for some models of Foretravel but they are not for my 2004 U270.

I bought a big box of Bosch wiper blades for Mercedes off eBay a couple of years ago. Each one is sealed. They fit like OEM without any adapters. About an inch shorter but I can't tell the difference in the rain. Should be able to change cars and U300 for years. Bosch makes excellent blades.

Foretravel has used different wiper arms and blades over the years. Whenever we try to replace or upgrade arms & blades, I am usually disappointed with the quality of the new stuff.  We have purchased new wipers and find they don't fit our arms at the pivot point, so we pull out the two long metal stainless steel slats in each wiper, remove rubber and put the new rubber in our original wipers and re-use our original long metal slats.

Just bought two OEM blades from Mike at FOT, ($75ea). WOW! They do come with the bolts and lock nuts.  They have a brass sleeve through the center, no rivet. They are Bosch but they look nothing like anything on the Bosch website that I could find. They do look nice, and I know from experience, the work nicely. (they should).

Bosch no longer makes bus/transit wiper blades.  They still supply truck ones though.  Foretravel OEM are possibly old stock.
