Flow- Thru Value Caps

Is any one using Flow-Thru Value Caps?  Thoughts, opinions?

Thanks,

I've been using them for years, with never a problem. I'm much more inclined to check the tire pressure when it's easy to do.

That said, each time I buy tires, my tire shop tells me to throw them in the trash.

Roy,
I had the flow thru caps put on a few weeks ago when I had my valve stems changed.  The shop told me they have used them for years on the oil field trucks they service with no problems.  I have the Tire Minder monitor system with the flow thru sensors and the flow thru caps seem to work well with them.  April 1st we are starting a 2 month trip to west Texas, New Mexico, Utah and then Colorado so I will have a better informed opinion of them when we get back.  A lot of tire shops that service trucks will probably have them if you don't want to buy quantity.  Good luck!

I use the HALTEC type that Peter referred to. Never had any leaking. Only problem is I can't use them on the outer duals as I can't fit my tire gauge on it.

When I had new tires installed , had the tire shop turn the valve stems on the outside wheels to point out rather than in and works quite well

JOR:

You might try one of these "straight back" inflators.  I have the Flow-thru caps, and with this chuck on my air hose both valves on my duals are easily accessible.

Chuck, I'll check that out. I have one that resembles that one but it must be a little larger or something. Thanks.

I used to use them, had 2 flats because they leaked(must have gotten a little dirt in them) metal valve caps for me, no problems since. I check tire pressure every morning while warming up.

Thanks everyone for the input.  I am buying tires soon and adding Centramatic tire balancers.  Centramatic has a package of 10 Flow-Thru Value Caps for $11.95.  I have ordered them.  I like the ease of check the pressure.

Thanks again,

Roy, I used to use them but threw them away, I have a local tire shop that is more than happy to check my tires anytime I want and each time they would find one of these caps was leaking or they could not accurately read the pressure because of the caps.  I now use just a metal cap that all it is is a dust cover that keeps crap out of the stem.
BTW I think that it is to every ones advantage to cultivate a relationship with a tire shop and then let them routinely check your tires for wear, damage, and pressure.  I leave a box of donuts at the tire shop about once a year and then I drive in with the cars and coach at any time and they service me with a smile.

I use flow thru valve stem caps on the inner duals. Have not had any trouble with them. They are  Alligator V2B double-seal flow thru valve caps. They are recommended on the Bridgestone Commercial Tire website. They have the word Alligator stamped on them.

Old thread but if anyone is looking for these and doesn't want to buy 10 or more and pay shipping you can get them for about $1.00 each at:
Kelly's Truck Parts
4808 South Street, Nacogdoches, TX 75964
(936) 569-0018

I have probably asked at a dozen different Napas and never could find them, but I found them at Kelly's Truck.  You have to ask for them, the aren't on the shelf.

What advantage do they provide??  I don't see any problem with good caps on the valve stems.  If it aint broke, don't fix it!!  Have a great day  ----  Fritz

The only advantage is you don't need to remove the caps to put air in the tires.

Different luck for me, I had issues with leakage until I had new Michelins, new valve stems and new 8" stems for the inner duals, mounted the Pressure Pro caps with the new seals and BINGO, now everything is happy after a year with about 9,000 miles.
Did put gauge to them, all within 5 psi of where started a year earlier.
Got tired of playing the game, so did the happy thing.
