HWH won't go out of travel mode - FIXED!

Had the coach out for a bit of exercise, and now it won't go out of travel mode. None of the buttons do anything. I've unplugged and checked the two fuses that said HWH, and found both to be good. Then I unplugged the cable from the control panel and plugged it back in again. Still nothing. The manual doesn't seem to cover this. Any ideas?

I'll call HWH tomorrow if the problem still is there. We'll sleep in the house tonight.

Try releasing and setting the parking brake. HWH on our coach goes out of "Level" mode when parking brake is released. If the key is on, be sure transmission is in neutral.

I'm not sure which fuses you are talking about but I think there are 5 or 6 fuses inside the computer box that you can check.

We had a similar issue, but the HWH would not go INTO travel mode.  FOT had us just move the coach a foot or two and then reset the parking brake.  Sometimes the thing just gets confused??

Thanks for the suggestions. In hindsight we should not have gone out today, since we need to leave for church about 4:45 on Wednesdays, and we just got home a few minutes ago. We didn't even turn the coach around when we got home, just left it facing the pasture. We'll turn it around tomorrow. Carol, that may take care of the problem. J.D. I did try releasing and setting the parking brake. The transmission is in neutral.

John, the fuses are the ones under the dash. I figured there had to be more to the system than that one small circuit board on the back of the control panel, but I don't know where the main brain might be hidden. If I have to call HWH maybe they will know.

David,
My computer was in a silver box on the wall behind the inverter.

Brain for our HWH is in a silver box attached to the ceiling of the main storage bay. When we had a problem, HWH suggested opening the box, unplug/plug every connecter, check every fuse. There are several fuses and connectors. Also, check for good grounding. That didn't help, so we sent the "brain box" and control pad to HWH. They found a wire that had come loose. It was a relatively subtle break. They fixed it and put a new face on the keypad. Cost was less than $100.

David,

It's probably in the control box as J.D. suggested.  I had to send mine to HWH when it would go into excess slope a couple of seconds after going into auto level.  This would happen without any yellow lights on.  I plugged and unplugged all the connections in the control box and keypad to no avail.  I explained the problem to Randy at HWH and he suggested sending the control box in for repairs.  I was charged for one hour labor and no parts and it has worked fine ever since.  The box is easy to remove, just make sure you mark your connections and are careful unplugging them.  I believe my problem was either a loose wire or bad connector.  Total cost was $106 and money well spent.

I'm the latest one to get caught by the infamous "salesman's switch." I noticed this morning that several things weren't working and started wondering what was wrong now. All of a sudden I remembered that switch. Sure enough, it was OFF. Turned it on and all is well again. After lunch we'll turn the coach around and continue moving into it. It is possible that by this weekend we will be completely moved in and living in the coach.

Dang dogs! They frequently hit that switch and turn it off. :P

It's one of the first things I check when: the power seats won't operate, the GPS navigator stays off, the interior lights don't work, ...

House battery shutoff switch by the entry door.

Pre 97 Foretravels we left every light on in the coach as it was too dark otherwise and turned off that switch.

Yes, that was the switch.

Coach is now pointed the right way and level in a new position - closer to the front door of the house. We're moving more things in.

Years ago, we made guard out of a piece of metal to keep the step switch lever in on position. We swiveled the guard to rotate switch. But now the switch gone.

When we recently cut an air bag access hole in the side of the step, we found the master switch's heavy cables in the way, so we just eliminated the switch by putting a jumper across two 90-amp breakers on bay wall. We never used the switch, so we don't miss it.
