Air leak at slide valve block

Have been chasing a leak that I think I have found but am not sure what it is. It's located in the 12v compressor bay and is a black plastic device in the slide solenoid block just below the slide valve. Leaking from a small hole in the small diameter portion. Any ideas?

    Thanks, Dean

Found it. It is a regulator. Now just need to source a new one.

Barry,
I am guessing here, my slide seal stays inflated for weeks with the 12 volt compressor disabled. So I assume my seal regulator is not leaking.  Actually, I have no idea how long the seal would stay inflated, know it is good fot 5+ weeks, that is as lobg as the coach has ever sat before it gets exercised.  Retract room and off we go for a good drive, return, extend slide and smile.

I would say that is a safe bet as well as the other items pertaining to the air slide being tight.

Actually the slide seal stays inflated just fine. I believe the check valve leaves it inflated even while the compressor switch is off. The supply side of the manifold will keep bleeding air to the regulator until it is satisfied. Unfortunately my regulator doesn't know when that is. ::) Spoke with FOT today and verified what was up and have a call into HWH to get a new one.

On another note, the dash gauges hold 75 lb's for a couple weeks now and the leveling system seems to be tight too. Many little leaks chased down and cured. Drives me nut's to hear that compressor run so if I hear it out come the soap bubbles!

Thanks Barry for the correct part #. I was using the one on the HWH repair schematic which is different for some reason.

Barry, After reading your regulator repair experience again I think I will give that a try before ordering a new one. We are staying put where we are for a couple more weeks so if it fails to work I can get one shipped here. Always happy to save $ for fuel!

      Thanks again, Dean

Well once again this forum saved me time and money. Took about 20 minutes to remove, clean, and re-install the regulator. I found exactly the same issue that Barry did. Small grooves in the plunger which I sanded off. No more leaking and the compressor is holding steady at 105 lbs for the last few hours. ^.^d I be happy!

I did notice another issue though. While the compressor was building air for about 2 minutes the feed wire was getting very hot, to the point I could smell the wire insulation. I noticed the feed wire from the solenoid is a size or two smaller than the one that feeds it. I think I may clean up the posts and up size the wire to same size as the one feeding the solenoid.
Anyone else had this issue?

        Thanks, Dean

Slide Air Regulator

Well the repair/rebuild on the air regulator in the slide block didn't last long. It started leaking again and cycling the compressor way to much. I am going to order a new one on Monday from HWH along with the o-ring kits for the front and rear six-packs.

So is there anything other than the regulator getting tired that could cause it's failure? ie a bad solenoid? Just want to try to cover all bases while my head is stuck in the bay......

I was just at HWH and they rebuilt my air manifold for the slide seal.  Less than $200 for essentially everything and 3/4 hr for labor.  Much cheaper than a new one. They spent about 4 hrs checking everything else as well and repaired a couple other things too.

Very nice to work with.

Roger, I wish I could take a trip to HWH but it's 1300 miles and for the cost of driving the coach there I can buy a bunch of parts. Although, I wonder if I could ship the manifold to them for rebuild? May have to check that out.

Dean, call HWH if you want a rebuild. They might rebuild your manifold. I had a faulty HWH control box. I called HWH for help. After performing the actions they suggested, I obtained RMA and sent the box to HWH. They repaired and returned the system. Cost was very reasonable.

Thanks J.D. Will give them a call tomorrow. Still need to order the six-pack o-rings anyway.

Dean,

Call HWH. They seem very ready to help.

We were on our way home and it was pretty much on the way.  Unfortunately, FOT is usually 1100 miles out of the way for me.

Yep, FOT is almost 2000 miles from here. Really wish we had closer service support. Thank goodness for this wonderful forum though. Takes a lot of the guesswork out of Foretravel ownership! ^.^d

Received the new slide manifold regulator from HWH today and installed it. Holding air so far and slide bladder is working properly. ^.^d

Now on to the front and rear six-pack o-ring replacement. Not looking forward to doing the "horizontal shimmy" to access them. Need to move closer to John H I guess.

HWH has a drive in bay that goes up a ramp and on to a raised rack that they use for looking for leaks and making under coach repairs.  Looked like it was about for or five feet up.  It would make it easy to work on lots of stuff.

Be sure to use safety tubes if you are are going to shimmy under the coach.
