Re: windshield gasket- wish me luck

Our '89 windshield shrunk with age, enough that there was a 3/4" gap about 4" from the inside edge of the passenger windshield. I had tried some windshield black sealer. It failed. When we put the outside windshield cover on it trapped water between it and the glass, then the water ran inside. A friend across from us had some Geocel ProflexRV crystal clear brushable layflat sealant. I masked the glass within an 1/8" of the rubber gasket, brushed on the sealant and have had no leaks since. I also did around the skylight in the bathroom---no leaks either now.
The sealer is available in quarts for RV catalog price of $28 and goes a very long way. Keep the lid on tight and it does not harden or cure out. Any paint brush you use gets thrown out. The product cures by solvent evaporation so make sure you have good ventilation!!!
Your local RV dealer will have this product in their RV catalog.
