Just What I Needed: A Water Leak

Well, I got up and made coffee, as usual.

Then Kathleen noticed 2, 12 in diameter water spots at the foot of the bed.

Then we noticed 1/2 in or more deep, 24 in long water puddles at the head of both sides of the bed.

Since I was bearfoot I would have noticed that water when I got up.

So the leak started after I got up.

The only water change I made was to get water for making coffer. I did get hot water to speed up the stovetop espresso brewing time (still hot from last night). But I did not turn the AquaHot on.

Kathleen started the washer after that.

I turned the city water off and and it was still dripping on both sides of the FT, from utility bay back.

The dripping stopped after about 40 minutes.

I just dumped yesterday and both black and grey tanks were and are empty. "Drinking water" tank is 1/4 full. No water in the bay with the water manifold on the curb side.

It might be time to remove the carpet in the bedroom.

Now is time to drink my coffee ...

With that volume, washer supply or drain is where I would start, or washer itself

Sorry to hear about your water issue.  As Tim said probably find the issue near or at the washer.

I assume this means that whether were talking about city water from the spigot, or water from the pump, turning either on will restart the leak.

I've long had an aversion to plumbing.

Anyone near El Centro, CA I can trust with RV washing machine plumbing?

I had two experiences with folks I had to pay to have them learn about FT type systems. I don't look forward to another one.

I could always go to R Mechanic in Livermore, CA. But that means leaving here earlier than planed.

Paul, if you have a Manibloc, you may be able to turn off water (hot and cold) to washing machine. That might allow you to defer repair to a better time.

You might try turning off all connections at the Manibloc, turning on water supply, then opening Manibloc valves one at a time to find the offending water line.

J  Ds answer would be my first attack. The plumbing leak (if washer line) would be under the cabinet base the unit is sitting in I would think. Most probably something simple like a hose washer or fitting.

There is dampness immediately under the washer, but none on the floor untill 8 ft aft of the washer.

The bath floor is real ceramic tile so that might have been a barrier forcing the water further aft.

On our 99 we have a bottom drawer to the left side of the washer that can be removed to expose the hot and cold valves for the washer. Not sure where yours would be in your floorplan.

I agree with the manibloc suggestion. Might be a good idea to shut everything except the kitchen faucet for starters, that should stem the flow and still leave you with a source of water to get by with until you get the leak fixed.

That's a great suggestion.  I'll try it as soon as I can get the Manibloc key. The carpet's gone by the way. It was the only way to get the water out quick.

Being in a desert as we are, any remaining water will soon be gone.

Manibloc valves turned and no leaks. Thanks!  Features like this is why we get Foretravels.

On my coach the floor in the closets is easily removed.  You might try pulling it up for access to the pipework.

On mine it looks like I have to remove the sliding doors and sliding door tracks to get at removing the floor.

Paul, look at it again as I do not think FOT would do something like that. Take a picture of the cabinet and alongside and I am sure we can direct you to the access better.

  I'm with JohnH. That floor has got to come up. I used to have a 99 and it came up with no problem. Probably just pull the carpet up and you'll see a piece of plywood that pops up. Good luck.

Washer Update

We finally got the washer out in plain sight.

Had it go thru a full cycle while we watched.

Not a drop of water on the floor!

We are planning to try another full cycle while it's in its correct place.

Any other ideas?

Paul, not knowing your layout is the bathroom vanity and toilet near the washer MC ?
tell me the model layout and I will go on B alarm and look at it and try to come up with some ideas. It must be one of the lines. As water migrates very easily even if coach is sorta level I would flush toilet first and look for water in those same areas, then fill the vanity in bathroom then look and then the shower then check. You have done the washing mc already. Could a leak from water purifier etc under kitchen sink be leaking? as water will travel under cabinets and sofa.

Well, we've run two different loads thru the machine now.

One with the washing machine on a pallet on the bath floor, and one with the washing machine in its proper location.

No leaks! Not a drop!

There is clear evidence of past water leaks in the washing machine area. So it HAS happened.

Any suggestions?

Well... I've had an intermittent leak at the water supply to the toilet. On tanks or high demand time for city water it doesn't leak. late in the evening I get a regular drip. I've concluded that my leak is pressure sensitive. I'm not going to try tightening until I can pick up some spare fittings. I have personally tightened a fitting past PNR trying to stop a leak. Not doing that without a spare sharkbite fitting. I treasure my caffeine to much to take that gamble!
