What finish/care products for FT wood work

I need to find out what Foretravel used on their wood work. (finish wise) Most of all what do you guys use to keep yours up? any help would be appreciated Larry

Murphy's oil soap will clean it and it smells good too.

We use Zep Wood Doctor. According to David Flanagan, that is all they used to finish the wood in our coach.

We asked David Flanagan that question a few years back - FT used Sherwin Williams sanding sealer as the finish when most of the pre-2006 coaches were built. As Faith and Bob said, David recommends Zep Wood Doctor for maintenance.

Larry,

Howard Feed-n-Wax has been recommended frequently. I got some from Amazon. Haven't tried it yet, waiting for a week or so whenI can apply it and leave the windows open. It smells OK but I was worried about applying it and leaving the coach closed up.

Try it on the inside of a door to see how it works, what it smells like and what it looks like after a week or so.

Murphy's oil will clean places where hands and fingers have left oils and other deposits. If the wood is clean, my choice is just bees wax. If your coach has a walnut interior you can get a dark bees wax. Apply sparingly, let dry, buff out. Shine will soften to a nice glow after a few days. Reapply once a year or so. I build a lot of furniture and this is always the feel that folks like most.

While in Texas this winter the lady across from us asked what we used and then ordered a case direct from the factory, seeing as how they wouldn't sell individual cans. 12 cans to the case for $98. I don't know if that included shipping.

I do know she (with a little help from me) sold all the cans she didn't want to keep for $12 each and all that bought them went away happy.

I have brought cans home for motorcade friends who knew I was going to the factory and or called me when I was there for a can.

Called FT today RE: Zep Wood Doctor - TT parts - not avaiable - Plant has burned down. Enyone have and extra can they wish to sell?

The Zep Wood doctor is what we use to keep the wood up and looking good. The original finish is a Sherman Williams high build spray lacquer finish according to the remodel shop. I have used it with success, matches the original finish.

"DEFT" Satin Wood Finish (stirred not shaken) if you are referring to refinishing.
One application at a time and 4/O steel wool before the next coat (open the windows.)
A natural fine bristle, throw away brush.
If any of the bristles stay in the finish.. do not try to remove them, let it dry, then 4/0 Wool.. pc

Homer Formby or any other brand near 100% lemon oil. Lemon oil is not only a wood moisture restorer that penetrates the finish coats but also a cleaner as well. Most of the best products mentioned have lemon oil.

(edit) Old English Lemon Oil is also very good.

I just went out and got a bottle of old English for med to dark wood and went home for lunch and tried some on the 92 and that stuff is impressive.

Nope. You must buy at least 3 cans ... and the price is a bit more than $13. I suspect the $12 price is in case amounts. Ah, well .....

Just a point, not all Home Depot carry it. Don't know where you found it, but, I have been to 3 stores in Oregon and 2 stores in Wash. with no luck. They all carry Zep products, but none the Wood Doctor and they claim they can't order it.

Stopped by a Woodcrafters yesterday and got a spray can of: Watco Clear Lacquer - Semi Gloss - Item #: 63181 - $14.99 - SKU: 154338. Hit a couple of places where the finish had worn off and was a little discolored. Did a fine job. I used to use Deft spray on stuff but wanted to use lacquer and not poly.
