Turbo Boost gauge - INSTALL

At some point I will buy the VMSpc . Until I do that I would like a way to monitor the turbo boost.

For those that have done this, what is a good set-up?
What gauge did you buy?
Electric or mechanical?
Where did you tap into the manifold?

Why avoid the VMSPC just put your time ,effort and money towards doing it. I would think that what you spend in time and money is not going to be that far off what you could get the VSMPC going for and you will get so much more information.

Do not know about the 95 version of the 320, or the M11 series, IF it is the computer model, for sure the VMSpc is the only reasonable answer, however if it is the mechanical version, you will need to configure a remote  either direct  tubing or electrical sensing to meter on dash area.  If you go to the effort of the electrical system, also include the EGT gauge would be my preference.

We just installed new boost & exhaust gas temp (EGT) gauges. The boost installs similar to other boost gauges on the market, with several small wires from dash to engine.

But the EGT pyrometer installation is revolutionary because it needs no calibration and accuracy is assured based on its design. Still needs several small wires to dash.

Good service from this company and they have other choices. We wanted the integrated EGT sender, and only VEI seems to have the design, so we went with both VEI gauges so they match.

My 95 U320 has the NLA rectangular plug. I posted the correct wires (only two) you have to connect to aside from 12v to get your VMSPC to work. I just 'slimmed down' a couple of spade connectors with my dikes and plugged them in. You can buy a cable version with bare ends from Silverleaf. Were I to do it again I would buy the round plug cable and cut it off. That way I would have it for the eventual upgrade to a newer coach like Gary or Tim's....

We have the Banks Stinger package on our '93 5.9 mechanical Cummins (installed by the original owner, I think). They just took a piece of board and fastened the Boost and EGT gauges to it and it sits on the dashboard. I am going to purty-it-up real-soon-now but I can say that it's an essential tool for driving!

Tim's comes with VSPC. :-)

I used a A pillar genaric 3 gauge for a pickup truck . found on Ebay . the white gauge is fuel pressure

Glow Shift Gauges has a dual egt and boost in one.  You can show boost, egt or toggle between the two every 30 seconds.  Electronic unit, I used spare wires to rear harness, hook up was easy. Directions say to drill into exhaust manifold, but I was worried about the metal shavings from drilling and installed sensor for egt in exhaust pipe. I had a problem about a year after I purchased it and customer support was good. Problem was my own making. Current cost $142.00

Nice setup, where did you run the plumbing to on the engine? Is it a mechanical turbo boost gauge? I have a 1992 cummins 6.0 12valve mechanical engine and wondered where I can hook a turbo boost to .
