If you could not buy a Foretravel what would you buy

I ask this as one of my buddies asked me that question, and I could not give him an answer.

Since you *can* buy a Foretravel (at prices ranging from $14k to over $100k) then what's the point? Does he just not want a Foretravel?

Well, "if" is a pretty big word.  And if I wanted to down size, Design Your Perfect Motor Home with Advanced RV, this might just be the ticket.

Bill, I'm with you, no answer to the question, we already have what we would buy if we bought another one.

 Prevost by Marathon.
Looking at them all the time but all look like Vegas Decor or some Roman holiday hotel. Will have to design my own I guess.

On a class C - LazyDaze.  On a class B, a sprinter based van.

On a class A - Bluebird, Country Coach, Newmar (some).

Class C I would get a Born Free and in a B I would get a sprinter based leisure van.

It would be Prevost  , most likely Marathon with four slides  . Been looking , will have to have one built as I don't care for all that shiny plastic look .            Brad Metzger

Hey, Brad, maybe we should go together and they may give us a deal, selling 2 at the same time???

We had a Class B for 33 years before our FT.  The Sprinter based Class B's well equipped are well over $100K new. They are very lacking in storage space.  It would be hard to see spending any significant time in one.  Ours was custom built in 1979, specifically for two people and long term travel. We had over 1000 nights in it with our longest trip almost 11 months. I saw this one built in France on a MB 4x4 chassis. It was how a Class B should be, function first.  They were on an indefinate world wide tour.

For us we wanted more space and bought the best we could get for our budget.

Of similar vintage to what we have, Beaver or a Bird.

I agree with Caflashbob, Country Coach or Beaver... Any of the Prevost coaches that I could afford are way to tacky for my taste..

We are about to make that decision.  We have been thoroughly spoiled by our Foretravel but have decided to get something smaller and more maneuverable that we can take to the small out of the way primitive campsites and take the grandchildren with us.  Right now a 4 wheel drive Born Free is the leading contender.

On the face of it, the Merc/Sprinter B's look really great. But they sure seem to be awfully coy about GCCC. Not that it matters to me. Even used they are outside my price range...

I'd go with a Bounder. Love that kangaroo!

Two miles of wiring on a bird.  And my personal 30 year buddy is a bird expert and no thanks.  Too distracting looking at the dashes.

And he and I were the bird salesman together.

91-92 3176 marquis.  Several customers I sold them new to still have them.  Every system is thought out.

Marine 12 volt labeled panel.  Manual giant switch in the bedroom cabinet to switch from shore to gen power.  Opera windows in the living room.

Agreed. Birds are also too heavy for hill country. Beavers are awful close to FT in overall build and you can tell thry have an honest electrical engineer on staff. But to answer the question, there is a very good chance that if there were no old inexpensive Foretravels, I probably wouldn't have any RV a'tall at the moment.
