silly question about nose access hatches

While installing my new dash bulkhead in the rain, I couldn't help but notice that water was pouring through around the hatch doors and giving ol Moby a real case of postnasal drip. It's not really going anywhere other than right to the ground, though it's splashing about on the framerails. There is no sign of there having been any manner of weatherstrip around these doors, so maybe I'm looking at a total non issue, but maybe the weatherstrip has vanished and I should do something about it. So I put it yet again to the allmighty knowledge base here, did the front access hatches have weathrrstipping in them or no?

Jay, My 94 U240 didn't.

No gasket on my 95 with the large hatch.  No evidence of any water damage.

My hatches had a small (2") piece of weatherstrip in each bottom corner when we bought it.  It looked to me like an attempt to keep the covers from vibrating.  The old rubber was dried up, so I replaced it with fresh.  Does make the covers fit a lot tighter - they're pretty loose without it.

Our '89 doesn't have any weatherstripping either, but we do try to abstain from driving in the rain.

My memory says there was foam around the doors.  Stopped rattles?

Twobus, the reason we try, and I do mean try, is mainly because the coach and toad get so filthy. Also, our coach has independent windshield wiper motors and performance is really crappy. After 56 years of synchronized wipers on our cars the coach wipers going different directions kind of freaks me out a bit. I think the motors are original Ford wiper motors and don't really have the power to move the longer wiper arms and blades, even tho there are two motors

No reason to have weather strip on those doors as when you drive the rain blows in through the grill. The only reason to put rubber there would be to keep from a rattle. For me with my poor hearing, the rattle is a non issue.
