Onan sound shield & air deflector

The fan discharge on our Onan Emerald lll BGE generator makes an incredible amount of noise. It discharges straight down about a foot behind the driver's side front wheel. The Onan manual  shows a sound shield & air deflector. Has anyone installed or fabricated such an animal?

I realize changing directions is an effective means of reducing noise but before I proceed with installing one I am curious if anyone has one and how well it works.

Our gen is propane fueled and after a thorough inspection the noise IS from the fan discharge. The gen was rebuilt in 2009 for a previous owner. I don't have current hours on the unit.
