Tile back splash

Well in the middle of getting ready to move in the FT full time in about 6 weeks, the floor is about ready for new hard wood, new front seats, and couch upholstery. Thinking about tile back splash. How hard is it to remove the old coriander, and can you put the tile over the existing wall material that is under the corian.

 Bruce, what is Coriandar, other than a plant??
Yes once you remove the Corian just remove all traces of Silicon and rough it up a good amount. I have done  6 surfaces now with tile and all are still there!
You can use a mastic or thin set(but with this make sure it is a polymer base) I do not see the need for a double sided sticky sheet like some have used but that is another option I guess.
I usually trowel a very thin layer of whatever I am using then the next day do the actual tiling. It will be fine.

I used silicone to put the tikes up then a flexible grout. Well, I should say FT did.

When I installed my Maniscalco glass tile, the wholesaler had premixed adhesive. I also purchased premixed grout.

I used thin set and did the extra grout the next morning. I got some really nice glass tile at home depot in the discount rack for really cheap. I did the sides of the entry steps as well with tile that matched the backsplash. This was four years ago and it's all staid put like I knew what I was doing. What a difference it made to the appearance. Biggest bang for my buck so far in updating the old girl.. It was even kinda fun.. Good Luck!

Nice idea Andy, got to get the new floor in next week, along with a reupholstered couch. We have to be out of the house by August 15th.
