Roadmaster Brakemaster Connection

Has anyone installed a Roadmaster Brakemaster? If so, how and where did you tap into the air brake system?

Their installation manual talks about connecting to an unused port on the air brake relay value but where is that? I have a 1992 U240.

I installed their system. On my coach the valve is in the rear center of the coach. It is the large valve with hoses going to each brake can. Pretty much foolproof if you follow their instructions.

Thanks for the info. That system looks like the best way to go for a TOAD since we have air brakes to start with.

Another system to look at is the M&G Air Brake.  But it has one part the goes under the hood, inline on the master cylinder.  Only issue is they do not make one for every vehicle.  But many of us have the system, and it works perfectly.

Air Force 1 is another possibility.

I talked to M & G yesterday, they have to move the master cylinder a few inches to install, so a lot of smaller cars (like my Honda Fit) will not be able to use it.  Next favorite item on this list may be the RVi2 auxiliary brake system on Amazon, pricey at $1,160 but very compact & super simple to use.

Yes, the master cylinder is made "longer" with the addition of the M&G part that goes into the splitting of the unit.  My Saturn was not a model that would have been easy.  But my Avalanche was maybe a 5 minute install for the brake cylinder part only.

Miz Dani - If you are interested in a Brakemaster, see pic for where it is installed under the hood in our Honda Fit.

Mark, thanks so much for this info, what model do you all have?  Did you get it on Amazon?  My Fit is a 2008....am in the research phase now, won't need to tow til October/November, (I'm sure I'll need a toad in Nac)....so plenty of time but want to get the homework done now.

9160 - BrakeMaster "with break away system for motorhomes with air or air over hydraulic brakes".  I did not buy on amazon but would check World of Rv Parts Online Super Store  They seem very price competitive and I am planning to get a 2nd vehicle kit from them soon.

BTW, FOT did the install on my Fit back in 2011 and there have been no problems in 25k+ towing miles.

I liked the looks of the M&G, but would need to destroy the fender well on the F150 pickup, so nope, went with the Air Force 1, very fine so far, only about 20,000 miles with it so far.

If you want something simple and not dependent on modifying your coach brakes check out ReadyBrake.  Almost 20,000 miles towing my Jeep without issues.  I can tow the jeep with anything that has a 2" receiver and lighting connections.

Check Craigslist and other sources for used stuff. I got one out of AZ for $150.00 and had it shipped to me. It had all of the components including the breakaway set up. The seller had bought a car with it and took it out.
