ScanGauge vs Silverleaf Electronics vmspc

It seems that everyone on the forum that has electronic engine read out uses the vmspc or other Silverleaf product. I am curious if anyone has used the ScanGuage and their impression of it. The truckers seem to like them.

Scan tools only displays a fraction of what Silverleaf does. It's inexpensive enough and you don't need a PC to see the display so guess it's OK. Our Pro-Link 9000 will read about 10X the info on four lines plus test injectors, make engine adjustments, read and clear codes, etc and used, was about the same price. It works on Cummins and CATs with just a cartridge replacement.

For a complete dashboard instrument replacement, Silverleaf wins out of the gate.

I do use the scan gauge. When we bought our coach the tach and the Volt meter were both dead. MOT advised the OEM gauges were discontinued, they found replacements that would fit but wouldn't match the rest of the instruments. $350.

The scan gauge was half the cost, gives me a tach, volt meter, boost gauge and one other, reads and clears codes. Fits an open receptacle in the dash. May get vmspc in the future, but the scan gauge serves well now.

I think anything that provides additional information is a great idea, but now that I have had the chance to use my VMSpc I really wouldn't want to be without all of the information it provides.

Any way you set up VMSpc, it is very useful.  I'm glad I addd it.  Drove about 80 miles last week without it being on.  Amazing how used to all the info if gives you, how easy it is to read and with just a glance tell that all is OK.
