Save money on a new toilet! :)

If you're considering a new toilet with a hand sprayer you've probably noticed the hand sprayer models cost a lot more and they're always special order cuz nobody has them in stock. Thetford toilets use the same water valve for both the sprayer and non-sprayer models. I don't know if other toilet manufacturers use the same valve for sprayer and non-sprayer models. On the non-sprayer Thetford toilets you can cut off the little tab on the end of the hose barb where the sprayer hose would attach and clamp the hose of your old sprayer on there. You can easily cut the plastic tab with a pair of needle nose pliers or a knife. In the photos below I'm pointing at the tab on the water valve with my needle nose pliers... Congratulations cuz you just saved yourself the extra time and money of special ordering a toilet with a hand sprayer! :)

Looks like the tall tower vacuum break is already designed & molded for a sprayer, except when there is no sprayer the plastic mold end is still sealed off. Great find.

Scott,
Just a suggestion here, consider a constant tension hose clamp such as the one shown on the larger hose in your pic. The standard hose clamp will eventually loosen and leak.

The constant  Tension clamps are very good as mentioned and that is the reason they are the ONLY type to be used on dishwasher installs for no leaks. I know in general we do not have them in most of our units (DWashers) but I mention it because that location is one place you do not want any leaks.

I reused the original hose and clamp from my old Thetford Aqua Magic toilet. The hose is only pressurized when the toilet is flushing, so that's the only opportunity it'll ever get to leak. The big hose has pressure on it whenever there's pressure in the coach water system.

By the way, there was a $25 rebate on the Thetford toilet, and they actually sent me the rebate! :) ...sorry if I seem a little too shocked that a rebate actually came through... so be sure to ask if there's a rebate and save the URL off the box along with the receipt because you'll need all that stuff when you send in the form for the rebate of course.
