Bay Doors Are Locked

Not able to unlock any of the bay doors on the driver side.  Have tried using the remote, rocker switch at the entry door and on the panel at the driver seat.  Also tried using a key on all the doors and none of them will unlock.  I read in the manual you are suppose to press the switch a second time within 5 second to unlock the bay doors but they still will not unlock.  Looked to see if the two sides are fused separately but could not find any fuse for door locks.

On the passenger side all the doors are working as intended.

Would very much appreciate any suggestions on what to do.  Not able to move, power cord is outside.

Newbie luck,

Gary

I just looked at our coach schematic and it shows all bay doors on the same breaker in basement. Is the panel in your coach on the side that will open or can you get from the passenger side across to that panel on wall to remove cover and check the little breakers. Now I am assuming that your setup is the same as mine but due to it being a lot newer may not be. I had to once take off the panel in front of passenger leg area and reset the box for these openers. Mine is right next to door rt hand side of electrical panel. Try that and see then the next thing would be if no one with similar coach chimes in to try and get hold of FT.

It would seem to me that if you can not unlock them with the key that the lock solenoids must be energized. Maybe if you temporarily unplug the battery you could unlock them with the key.

Found the wire diagram for the Trimark keyless entry system.  Trying to figure out where it is located.  Either has to be in one of the bays that is locked or behind the panel directly in front of the passenger seat which is where the 12 volt disconnect and door lock switch are.
Have not figured out how to remove that panel.

Three of the doors are controlled by Bank A and the other two are wired to Bank B.  The doors on the passenger side which are working are on Bank C and D.  Not sure what that means other than the door actuators are not working.

Mark, not sure which battery you are referring to unplug.

Put a call into FOT several hours ago, not sure how long it will before James is able to get back with me.  So much for Jeannie and my first trip together.  Guess I could duck tape the power cord to the coach and head out but that I would never do to our Foretravel, maybe SOB but not a FT.

Maybe that front panel by passenger is same as mine. Pull out on the bottom of the panel and it should come out then it just drops down a tad. Mine is a black box about 4 or 5 " square.

Mark, not sure which battery you are referring to unplug.

I would think the chassis battery would control the door locks but I am unsure of that.

I have done it a few times. In fact I did it once in FT lot for another owner who wanted to get into his coach bays.  You will need a small powerful flashlight and wear glasses, either the real kind or safety will work as you will be pushing the plastic connector off and the little arms on it can break.

Received a call back from FT yesterday afternoon and was told the actuator's were bad.  I would have to pull the weather-stripping out from the bottom and use a coat hanger to release the locking mechanism.  Asked about disconnecting the battery and was told that would not release the locks.  Voiced a concern since half the doors are framed out with 1 1/2 angle iron and the door mechanism is covered with a sheet of black plastic.  Removing the weather-stripping only allows for about a half inch opening which is covered by the angle iron.  From what I can tell you would have to try to unlock the doors that are framed out by trying to unlock the latch from the pins on each corner because they are on the outside of the angle iron frame.

Jeannie was not buying any of this so she called FT back and the person she spoke with said he had never not been able to open a door if an actuator failed.  Suggested to work the locks on each door until they unlocked.  Theory was previous owner always used the automatic opener and the locks were frozen.  After about 2 or 3 minutes working each lock she was able to open all the doors.  Graphite is going into all the locks today.

Also told us each side (driver and passenger) are on separate circuits and most likely one of the actuators failed and that triggered all the actuators on the drives side to remain in the locked position.

Thanks to all for the suggestions in helping us figure this out...now I need to ID the root cause.  That's for another day, we are going to go on our trip first.
