Porch Light stays on

I am having a problem with the porch light and grab handle light staying on continuously
  2003 U320.

I did a search on the forum and it helped me narrow the problem down to the ground
wire that is secured between the coach wall and handle.

When I take the handle off and the ground wire is not making contact with anything, the
porch light and handle light are out.
If I touch the ground wire to the handle, then remove the handle so that the ground wire
is not contacting anything, the lights will go on for 30 seconds then click off.

If I re-connect everything the lights stay on. Where should I next look for the problem?

        Thanks Jim

Ditto ; also looking for a solution.  A major annoyance and waste of bulbs.

It sounds like the Touch-lite module has gone bad.  It's located inside the magazine rack next to the passenger seat.  Not sure if it's still available - you would have to check with FOT parts.

There's a trick to taking the magazine rack off.  I'll ask Steve to post about it.

Here's Steve's original post on how to get the magazine rack off

Remote Locking Keypad

He says it actually isn't as complicated as he originally describes if you can figure out which few screws hold it in place after you remove the outlets, etc.

Our porch light did the same thing. I disconnected the ground wire that is located in the bottom part of the door handle. Now the switch turns the light on and off (no more touch the handle feature.) Also needed to clean the bulb contacts.  Good Luck

Thank You Michelle for the info.

Bob & Vicki--I did the same just to get the light out. I don't know if leaving the ground
wire off would cause any other problems--but for now it will have to do.

When I get a chance I will try and take apart the magazine rack--there is not too much
room to work in that area.

Jim, another thought. Is there some other connect between the ground wire and the coach chassis, for instance, are the screws holding the handle touching something grounded.
No RV! Have hung up the keys.

Make sure that everything around the bottom handle is BONE dry, any moisture here will act as a ground.

Thanks--Will re-check handle and make sure no moisture is trapped between
        handle and coach wall.
