Best Glue for metal flat strip under big slide

Today brought the motorhome from storage and put out the slides.  Everything still works but noticed one of the flat metal slide things on the bottom of the slide hanging down.  Had FOT glue this one on about two years ago but it is back loose and hanging.  What is the best glue to use to put this flat metal back into position.  It appears it was glued up and the slide must move back and forth on it.  I know JB Weld will do it;// but that stuff will never let go and might not it be the right thing to use.

Hi Dan,

Be sure you don't attempt to hold up the two stainless strips on the bottom of the slide with screws, such as at the outer edge as was done on my coach. An adhesive would be far better. Any screws eventually will extrude and tear up the slide seal...don't ask me how I know this.

Jim what did you finally do to attach the flat metal on the bottom of the slide.  I am thinking now about looking for some type of construction adhesive or may look at contact cement which they put laminate on with.  DAN

Dan,

My strips never separated so I did not have to re-adhere them. I suspected the factory used the screws to hold the strips in  place until an  adhesive (maybe liquid nails, etc.) set up.

I would suggest the 3M 5200 Urethane caulk/adhesive. If it will hold solar panels on the roof it should hold the slides in place and it stay somewhat flexible so it won't shear under load like epoxy. As a point of reference, Gorilla Glue is urethane also but I feel more confident in the 5200 for your use.

The 5200 cures fairly slowly so give it a week before you use the slide mechanism.

This is the front strip under big slide.  I have cleaned off all the old adhesive which appears to be the contact cement that use on laminate.  DAN

There is a fast cure 5200 that cures in 24 hours.  It is available at any marine supply store such as west marine.

Went to the local hardware store as I live about 15 miles out of Tyler and found a product E6000 made by Eclectric Products. This is an Auto & industrial Adhesive.  Bonds metal/glass/plastics/wood etc.  24 to 72 hour dry time.  Got it on and braced to hold tight.  Should be good.  Tks all DAN
