Finally figured out why my big awning would not work after travel with remote

This 02 zip dee awning has given me a hard time to work after traveling.  The remote would never work after the coach has traveled long distance.  So today it would not work again with the remote.
I opened the box and noticed there is a switch at the bottom which I finally figured out must be to turn the remote on and off.  Pushed the button up and it seemed very loose and extra easy to push up, so it must have been moving off from vibration of travel.  Put a small amount of plumbers putty under it so it will stay put.  Remote now works and awning is great.  Hope this is what has caused my remote not  to work all the time. I know there are other 02 awnings out there.  DAN

Dan,

Is the switch you describe in the remote or in the basement  mounted control box?

I believe that may be the on off switch for the system.

The switch is inside the control box.  You will see the drawing of it inside on the door.  It could be that it turns the entire system off and on but it has to be on for the remote to work.  I am so glad there are others with this awning.  I had been reluctant to use it but now that I am an expert :P ::) I am going to put it out more often.  DAN

Your awning is like ours.  Most people don't like the 02 awning but it is so cool watching it go up with all the motor whining and the compressed air noise.  It's sort of like a work of art when you watch it.  It sure seems sturdier than the later ones with no supports when an unexpected wind gust comes up.

My experience is that you need to use it often to keep it working.

Also there is the intrigue when you push the button wondering if it will work.

You are right it is exciting to see if it will work.  Two quirks that I have noticed is it doesn't like the transfer switches that much.  If the remote doesn't activate and you have good air pressure, turning the bottom switch off and then back on resets the ECU and all is well.  My unit also has a reset button on the top inside the grey box it occasionally pops up when the transfer switches from genset to inverter.  Hope this helps
