Really Well Cared For Foretravel

OK, so I have done a lot of mechanical inspections on Foretravels.

Today I inspected one that makes me proud-- a 13 year old that shows a lot of love by someone who KNEW how to care for a coach.  Was it perfect-- no we had three pages of mostly little things.  Only big one was air dryer desiccant powder in the wet tank.

Bulkheads-- 100 % perfect.  Completely dry wet bay (both sides). ETC.

If you are looking-- there ARE nice ones out there!

So inquiring minds are wanting to know if it's for someone here on the forum who's buying a new-to-them FT ;)  I hope they chime in and let us know when the coach is theirs....

Yes, there are some really nice ones out there. We were really blessed in late 2012 to get ours. The previous owners did an outstanding job of maintenance,  repairs and upgrades. This has allowed us to concentrate primarily on enjoying the rig. Those who are shopping should ttake heart and keep looking for that great rig. It's out there!

Hello all
Just thought I would jump at the opportunity to-chime in and say hello as a new member.  My wife is retired and I have been blessed with a golden opportunity to pull the plug and retire in February.  We have been looking at class A for the last 6-7 years, at first I thought that Monaco was the way we would go, then I changed and wanted a Country Coach Magna circa 2000-2002. Now, that has changed and not that there is anything wrong with those two makes, but we are sure that FT is the way we will be going. We have made a one year commitment to traveling the greatest country in the world in the RV (we want to go to Canada also someday, we like them too)and just doing what ever we feel like. After a year of trudging the happy roads-we will decide to keep going or be half timers ( I am really looking forward to this retirement stuff) Also, we lived on a 37' Ocean trawler on the West Coast for over a year about 18 years ago, so compressed living is something we have done and can do again.
Anyway, this is a great forum and we look forward to spending more time here and participating in the group.
Thanks
Bill and Martha Nelson
PS, the inspection was not for us, however we are actively looking!

Welcome to the forum Bill and Martha.
Some day you will find that special Foretravel, what ever age it is, then you will really start to enjoy retirement.
Read all you can here and ask any question that comes to mind, that will help in your search.
We had an older motor home and looked at a Country Coach  and what seemed like a thousand others, then we went to FOT and took the factory tour, and the decision was made. Only needed to find one that fit our budget. Wish we had done it sooner.

Again Welcome

Bill and Martha - You may want to consider our 2000 U320 which we recently listed on the Forum in the Classifieds section (and also on RV Trader). We don't know what "vintage" FT you have in mind, or your budget, but ours is very well priced, based on the other units out there, and is extremely well cared for. Send us a personal message or give us a call if you might be interested in additional details on the coach. Even though we are in Connecticut, we previously sold our earlier Foretravel to someone in Oregon; so if it's right for you, and I think others on the Forum will attest to - it's worth considering. Timing is indeed everything, so don't let the distance impede your search for the "perfect for you" coach.

Welcome Bill and Martha, I see that you are in our neck of the woods in SoCal. We live in Torrance Ca. We have a 1998 U320 40ft Limited Edition that I went all the way to Florida to purchase. We picked it up in January of this year. We love our coach. If you would like to take a gander at it you can PM me and I would love to show her off. She is not for sale just thought you might want to get a close up look at the best coaches money can buy. Again welcome, you will find all the information and help you will need here on this forum. Great people.

Thanks Donald and we too are sure that Foretravel is the way we want to go, thought it would be another 6mo to a year before we were ready, but recent retirement opportunity has opened the escape hatch a bit sooner than planned. I wanted to wait until I was close to pulling the plug and then get on the road, things changed and I am ready-DW is not since we still have a lot to do before heading out.

Bob, thanks, you sure have a clean 40' and must be very happy with it, and sad to part ways.  We really want a 36' that has at least 400hp and we want one slide only.

Greg, I sent you a PM, hope you got it!
Thanks everyone

Another welcome, Bill and Martha. Be prepared to wait a while before the right coach comes along, but also be prepared to jump when it does. If you don't know for sure what you want you are probably better off passing on "good deals" while you learn what you need/want and can afford. A lot of people trade once or twice in the first couple of years as they better learn their needs/wants. That has led to the expression "buy your third coach first" meaning that if you do the homework you are more likely to get it right the first time.

Take your time and spend some time with Foretravel Specifications, Floor Plans, Photos & Brochures by Year which will give you floor plan information and specs for most Foretravels. Most of us here have that site bookmarked.

Still a question posed by the first post in this topic remains unanswered... leading to speculation that the coach inspected by Brett might have been Phil's 42' no slide 2002 which has apparently been snatched up by Neal P. Inquiring minds and all that... :))

Thanks David! We did get a look at Barry's site. He sure did a great job putting all that info together.  We will be patient and keep looking for the right coach, and we are ready to jump at it if everything is right.  We want a 2002-2004 36' with a private toilet/bath and one slide.
Thanks everyone
